The girls of GFRIEND are coming back in a big way when they release their new mini album this March. It seems that the popular Kpop group is going the direction of Taylor Swift's "Bad Blood" and are premiering an edgier look in their teaser MV.
According to a report by SBS Pop Asia, the GFRIEND girls have updated their look for an edgier style for their teaser video for their MV "Fingertip." The girls were attired in all black outfits from head to toe and sported fierce looks on their faces as they posed with plastic guns on a rooftop in front of a lighted signage of the song title.
The "Fingertip" MV definitely seemed like it had a Japanese superhero fantasy element and the girls looked ready to save the world as the heroines of the piece. "Fingertip" is part of their upcoming mini album which will also serve as their comeback. The album will come out on March 6.
Further cementing the theory that GFRIEND is updating their style for their new material are two teaser concept photos released via Twitter on their official site. The photos showed the girls in stylish military themed outfits and another one showing the girls in chic schoolgirl outfits and looking serious. The two photos also have two words marked on them - knight and military, which could serve as clues to what they have in store, Soompi reported.
The new concept photos could mean that the girls are shedding their cutesy schoolgirl images to project a more mature and formidable image. This new change could also mean that they are growing up as artists or could be related to the theme of their new music.
Early comments on the teaser video show a lot of support coming from other fandoms like the BTS's ARMY, TWICE's Once, and even the EXO's EXO-L. GFRIEND's mini album is entitled "The Awakening."
