EXO's Kai makes another big accomplishment to cast as a lead actor in the upcoming Japanese TV series "Spring Has Come". The EXO member will be playing Lee Ji Won, a Korean photographer living in Japan. The new Japanese drama will focus on family values in modern society. However, there are still a lot of fans who worried about Kai's acting skill.
The drama "Spring Has Come" is based on Kuniko Mukoda's novel of the same name. The drama will be broadcasted on WOWOW and EXO's Kai will be the first Korean actor to star in a TV series on that station, Soompi reported. The news of EXO's Kai casting in a Japanese drama has started to surface since he plays a leading character in another new drama "Andante", which is still in the production process and will air within this year.
The photos and behind the scene videos of EXO's Kai in the set has been revealed to the public recently. In the photos, Kai looks like an 18-year-old boy. Some reports revealed that the production crew admired Kai's work ethic and professionalism. "Despite the cold weather and hectic schedule, Kai still maintains his professional attitude," a source said.
"Andante" follows the story of Si Kyung, a city boy who has to adjust to the countryside life. The news of EXO's Kai starring in the new KBS drama was not received well by fans at first. There were a lot of fans who questioned Kai's acting skill and doubted that he will be able to work it out. "When Kai starred in a web drama, I watched the first episode and stopped watching. I wish they wouldn't make the ones who are not good at acting to act," said a fan in an online forum, commenting Kai's acting skill in a web drama.
Before "Andante", Kai has only starred in two web-dramas, "7 First Kisses" and "Choco Bank". In the "7 First Kisses", Kai didn't need to put a lot of efforts since he played as himself. However, a KBS drama is a big deal, and fans aren't quite sure that any Kpop idols will be able to pull that off. Well, maybe it's the right time for EXO's Kai to debunk that myth and prove to the world that he's worthy of the acting job.
