TWICE reportedly may have carried out all their promotions, but it looks like they are not done yet with the sweeping music show charts. In Mar, 21, SBS's "Inkigayo" allegedly announced the winner for the third week of March through their official homepage. The winner was none other than TWICE who garnered a total of 9421 points, exceeding their score during the previous week.
The win not only marked TWICE's ninth win with "Knock Knock," but according to Soompi, was also their third consecutive week leading the "Inkigayo" charts. The triumph gave the group the highly coveted triple crown. Moreover, TWICE also took first place on last week's "Music Bank" and "M!Countdown," both of which happened after they had apparently wrapped up their plugging.
The SBS "Inkigayo", which means "The Music Trend" in English, is a popular South Korean music program, according to Viki. The program showcases live, on-stage performances by the hottest music artists and groups of the day. The show has accordingly been airing weekly on SBS since 2003 In its current form.
Each week viewers are apparently treated to a new artist or group debuts, and popular artist or group comebacks. It also allegedly includes live performances of the latest releases and awareness songs related to safe driving, healthy lifestyles, and much more.
At the end of each show, audience votes for the top three songs are revealed. The eventual winner of the week receives an award. After a song has won three times on "Inkigayo," it is no longer eligible for competition, thereby making the program interesting by coming up with new talents.
Twice is a multi-national K-pop girl group molded by JYP Entertainment through "Sixteen," the 2015 reality show. The group is composed of nine members selected from a pool of sixteen JYP trainees. The name Twice was chosen because members will allegedly be able to wow their fans via their ears once, and twice through their eyes.
