UNICEF's Korean committee announced that PROMIZ-Lee Min Ho's donation platform-has contributed 25 million won (~21,700 USD) for the event that is coming up on the 22nd of March. This has been their 2nd year in a row donating to the cause, their previous donation being 43,000 USD to provide drinkable water for 52 children.
Lee Min Ho, as stated in an article on AllKpop, has donated said sum to UNICEF to deliver water purifiers and 138 emergency kits that'll grant 92,000 children access to clean drinking water for a month. UNICEF's kits contain relief products that will aid children in emergency situations such as natural calamities and war. Among these relief products are malnutrition and dehydration treatments and supplements.
Earlier this year, according to a report by Korea Portal, Lee Min Ho has also donated a staggering amount (~44,000 USD) to victims of domestic violence through his platform's social media campaign-"Making a Warm Winter for Both Body and Heart."
Due to his constant donations, the Korean actor has been declared a member of UNICEF's Honors Club. Lee Min Ho has been consistently donating since his participation in the international organization's 2009 "Love Net' campaign where he promoted to battle malaria. Under his fan club name, Minoz, he has donated 100 million won in 2015, as well, to help those affected by the Nepal earthquake.
"Many people still think that this is only for the rich," said the actor continuing with how he also used to think the same. He has been encouraging his fans to donate even the smallest they can afford and expressed his aim to change the view about donating to charity.
Lee Min Ho stated that, through UNICEF, the actor and PROMIZ have been able to offer clean water to many children and has said that their interest in helping those in need all around the world will only continue from here.
"I will work hard," Lee Min Ho added,"so that the world can become a warmer place."
