Warner Chappell Has Mistakenly Blocked SECRET’s MV “Madonna” For Copyright Infringement

YouTube has had a big sweep involving automatic bans, demonetizations, and copyright issues that obviously made everyone including artist, labels, and internet personalities freaked out. Recently, there's a slight mix-up involving girl group SECRET, and Madonna's record label, Warner Chappell that results in SECRET's music video with the same title as the diva's name being blocked. The blocking case is actually pretty odd considering SECRET's MV has been on YouTube for six years.

Fortunately, Warner Chappell is quick to straighten up the misunderstanding. The label also admitted they had no idea how it happened that hinted unintentional infringement match. According to Allkpop, the label has responded via its Twitter account by writing: "This is most likely a mistake; we have already sent an email to the department that handles this. It should be corrected in the next day or two."

The "Madonna" block has officially triggered a lot of people within the K-Pop community. The angry fans have also pointed out to the diva herself for the move. However, according to Pop Crush, such case happen due to the fact that "Secret" is also the name of Madonna's hit song back in 1994. "Secret" is one of the tracks from "Bedtime Stories" album, and SECRET's "Madonna" might have been accidentally flagged in an automated round-up of non-authorized uploads that carry out the same artist or track title.

SECRET's "Madonna" is actually a form of admiration from the group to the diva herself. The song is about someone living with confidence for being an icon of this generation like Madonna. In fact, SECRET is not the only public figure that has shown their compliment to Madonna through a song. Robbie Williams has done the same thing with his hit track "She's Madonna" back in 2006. Meanwhile, Madonna's "Secret" was one of her mega hits from the '90s.
