Recent reports have just confirmed that Mnet will be having a new girl group project show really soon. It is said that the show will be kicking off in the second part of this year.
Mnet's shows such as "Produce 101" and "Sixteen" have proven that they can creatively produce and give its viewers a taste of real K-pop. Now, it is reported that an upcoming new program show entitled, "Idol School", will air this coming July.
However, the process of accepting new applications for its contestants has already begun last March 28, and it kicked off in their own website. Reports suggest that the upcoming program will be airing on an 11 week duration.
The entire course of 11 weeks will solely be devoted to the development and training of the contestants. And once their training is finished, they will then take the final exam and graduate.
The group which gets the highest score would then be the newest girl group of Mnet. However, this would be different from the other K-pop girl groups because what usually happens is that the idol's skills and talents are developed through years of rigorous training.
In "Idol School", the show will be dwelling more on the potential of the contestant, instead of the development of the talent. It's really not about teaching the contestants to become a K-pop idol; it's about bringing out the natural talent and prowess of the contestant to become a real and tru K-pop sensation.
This will surely give a clear advantage to those contestants who really have the innate and in born talent in singing or dancing. According to Soompi, the contestants of "Idol School" will be called as students, and that they will undertake crash courses and personalized classes to develop, improve and progress through their talents.
