Its been 10 years since the phenomenally successful "Coffee Prince" aired on Korean television and captivated viewers not only locally but internationally as well. Fans have been clamoring for a second season with Gong Yoo and Yoon Eun Hye for years but will this milestone anniversary finally trigger the much awaited "Coffee Prince" Season 2?
It can be recalled that way back in 2007, MBC was already considering the development of "Coffee Prince" Season 2. However, at the time, Gong Yoo was set to enlist for the military so any possible sequels filmed at the time would not include him, and this would defeat the purpose of the sequel.
In the following years, both Gong Yoo and Yoon Eun Hye also led busy careers as Gong Yoo starred in dramas like "Big" and "Goblin." He also rose to international fame with the horror movie "Train To Busan" which broke box office records in Korea and internationally, Korea Portal reported. Yoon Eun Hye has kept herself busy with dramas like "Lie To Me", "I Miss You" and "Marry Him If You Dare" which was filmed way back in 2013. She has focused on starring in movies like "Chronicle of a Blood Merchant" and last year's "After Love", If "Coffee Prince" Season 2 materializes, it would make a fitting comeback for the actress to return to her role as the unforgettable character Eun Chan.
Meanwhile, the possibility of Gong Yoo reprising his role as coffee shop boss Han Gyul in "Coffee Prince" Season 2 is quite feasible since the actor is very active in his film and television career. In fact, prior to the airing of "Goblin" last year, Gong Yoo said that he still had a lot of great memories about "Coffee Prince." He said these memories were not related to whether the drama did well or not.
"Everyone in Coffee Prince wanted each other to do well," Gong Yoo said in an interview with Drama Fever. "No one was selfish, and it was a set where we all had fun. That kind of atmosphere is hard to come by, and to have experienced it as an actor, I am very thankful." Fans hope that this is an indication that he is willing to work on "Coffee Prince 2" should he be offered a part.
