'We Got Married' Cancellation: MBC Confirms Show's Return For Season 5 But Major Restructuring Looms

"We Got Married" recently held a farewell party along with the cast of the show's fourth season but it still became a happy occasion with the news that the show will be returning for a fifth season. It is uncertain, however, how long the show will be on hiatus.

The farewell party happened during the final taping day at the MBC studio and was attended by Park Mi Sun, Hwang Jae Sung, Yang Se Chan, Park Na Rae and Oh My Girl's Hyojung. In her Instagram post, Park Mi Sun said that she will miss everyone and was sad that they were about to end another season.

It has earlier been rumored that "We Got Married" will almost certainly get canceled following a statement from MBC insider that the network was planning to reorganize its programming line-up. It was reported that a long-running show will be cut from the roster and will be replaced by a new concept show, Kpopstarz reported.

"We Got Married" has been rumored to be on MBC's chopping block for some time now since the show has not been performing at par with its earlier seasons. It has also been aired for almost 10 years and has been faced with many controversies throughout its run like scandals involving the cast members while their seasons were airing as well as a union issue that relegated the show to airing reruns for some time.

According to a report by Soompi, it has been confirmed that "We Got Married" will be returning for a fifth season. The show will be taking a break from the meantime to bring fresh content to its viewers.

"Our program has been airing for a long time, so we decided to take a break after season four to reorganize and bring new content to viewers," the MBC source said. "This is not the end, but a new beginning."
