'We Got Married' Cancellation: 'We Got Married' To End In May; 'Oppa Thoughts' Eyed As Replacement

After 10 years on air, "We Got Married" may be finally come to an end. The show will reportedly be replaced by "Oppa Thoughts."

According to a report by All Kpop, there has been no official confirmation made by the show's production yet but rumors are rife that it could possibly go off the air by May. "We are currently filming. I will check before making an official statement," the"We Got Married" PD said.

"Oppa Thoughts, a show which premiered on Lunar New Year this year is an entertainment show that focuses on celebrities and is expected to appeal to entertainment enthusiasts, especially those who are following K-pop celebrities closely. The show may become a possible replacement for "We Got Married" as they are both celebrity based programming.

According to Korea Portal, rumors that MBC will pull the plug on "We Got Married" has been swirling for a while because it has been struggling with ratings for some time. It can be recalled that in its 10 year run, the show has gained a steady following not only in Korea but all around the world because of its format.

Throughout the years, "We Got Married" has featured celebrities like Girls' Generation's Taeyeon, Super Junior's Kangin, Hwanhee, SHINee's Lee Tae-min, CNBLUE's Lee Jong-hyun, who have now established themselves as top names in the K-pop scene. This was not, however, the first time that the show was plagued with cancellation rumors as it also suffered through some difficulty in 2010 due to labor disputes. The show had to air reruns of its episodes until the issues were resolved.

MBC has not yet issued an official statement regarding "We Got Married" getting cancelled, and the PD has confirmed that they are still filming episodes of the show. For the meantime, it would be better to wait for official information before jumping to speculations.
