After rumors and speculations of SM Entertainment gathering these idols in one unit, the company has already confirmed that they are indeed creating this super boy group.
On August 8, it has announced its partnership with the record label Capitol Music Group and its independent label arm Caroline. The two entertainment giants will unveil the boy band called “Super M”; their name standing for “Matrix” and “Master.”
SM Entertainment founder Lee Soo-Man shared in a statement that they “have put together seven super talented artists to perform differentiated music.” The highly-anticipated boy group, according to him, will show audiences what’s at the heart of K-pop with their “music performances, fashion, and videos.”
Meanwhile, Chris Lee, an SM Entertainment Artists and Repertoire (A&R) executive, regard this creation of a super boy group as a “totally new form for the [industry].”
Branding Super M as the “Avengers of K-pop,” Lee remarked that they are borrowing the concept of gathering elite heroes in one movie to offer a new unit that will help leave a big impact on the music scene.
“We are now creating [that idea] as a business model. We wish to create a synergy between [the members’ respective] groups, them as solo acts, and the Super M group [itself] to create a big wave in the K-pop industry,” the SM Entertainment executive added, clarifying that they are still maintaining the members’ groups and solo careers.
Under this venture, the septet will be launched both in South Korea and in the United States. Promotions for them will kick off in October this year.
According to reports, Capitol and Caroline will be in charge of the “comprehensive marketing, promotion, and publicity campaigns in supper of Super M.”
With members having strong skills in singing, dancing, and rapping, Super M is expected to put the power of K-pop at the forefront of the global music scene.
