BTS’ V Warms Hearts with New Song and MV, ‘Winter Bear’

Kim Taehyung, more known as V of the K-pop powerhouse BTS, recently surprised fans with the release of a new song and music video that showcases his artistic side.

Last August 10 at midnight, V dropped “Winter Bear” — a soft pop-rock piece that muses about how someone you dearly love has that power to make everything alright.

“Imagine your face/ Say hello to me/ Then all the bad days/ They’re nothing to me/ With you,” the K-pop superstar handsomely croons in the song.

Participating in the production of the track is fellow BTS member RM and collaborators Hiss Noise and Adora.

“Winter Bear” serves as his second solo release this year. However, unlike last January’s “Scenery,” the 23-year-old’s latest drop is fully written in English.

In a tweet, V revealed that RM helped a lot in terms of translating the lyrics into the said language.

The unveiling of the song also coincides with the 1000-day celebration since he himself coined the sentence “I purple you.” These words hold much meaning as according to V, the color purple is symbolic of trust and long-lasting love.

Purple has since been considered by ARMYs — BTS’ fans — as their unofficial color.

Apart from the 1000-day commemoration, “Winter Bear” was more importantly released as a tribute to V’s grandmother’s third death anniversary, giving the whole song a deeper and more profound meaning.

While V held back in teasing about the release of a new solo track, fans have been blessed to see the artistry of the BTS member unfold throughout the song. It well highlights his utterly enthralling manly vocals, plus its accompanying visuals also display his directorial side.

The music video, a self-directed one, compiles footage from his group’s most recent world tour and travels. Earlier in April, BTS dropped their critically and commercially acclaimed EP, “Map of the Soul: Persona,” which includes the record-smashing cut “Boy With Luv.”

“Winter Bear”’s music video also a hidden message, which made the fans swoon more intensely over V’s artistry. In the titular frame, his pseudonym “Vante” can be seen creatively embedded within the word “Winter.”

V uses the name “Vante” for his photography works.
