This seems unbelievable but Korea's famous star opened up that she suffered from an eating disorder called bulimia. IU shared this information for the first time on an episode of Healing Camp. She said that she experienced so much pressure for her debut to become successful. Her battle with bulimia started when she binge eats to make her feel better. Then she will be anxious and continued eating until she vomits. She received professional counseling and fully recovered.
2. JinE (Formerly of Oh My Girl)
When Oh My Girl debuted, many commented that JinE was chubby. All the members had to diet for promotions but JinE took it too far. Her health slowly deteriorated and she was hospitalized. She was diagnosed with anorexia. WM Entertainment announced her hiatus to receive medical treatment. She terminated her contract after 1 year, in order to overcome her disorder. She is open to everyone about her battle with anorexia and she posts pictures to let her fans know that she is recovering well.
3. Jang Na Ra
Jang Na Ra may seem a cheerful person but she actually struggled with anxiety disorders and bulimia. She first talked about her disorder on an episode of Healing Camp. She experienced bulimia due to pressure and stress. Later on, she started to develop severe anxiety. She began to recover her mental health when she started to communicate with her family and regularly receive counseling.
4. Ladies' Code's Sojung
Sojung shared her experience with anorexia during an episode of JTBC's Girl Spirit. She obviously lost a lot of weight (18-20 lbs.) before her debut. Then she lost 11 pounds more. She looked skinny and weighed unhealthy 84 pounds. She said that her face had a skeletal appearance and her body seemed very fragile. She started to be healthy again by exercising and eating nutritious foods to recover faster.
5. Seo In Guk
Eating disorders may seem to be more common in females than males. Men can also suffer from these disorders. On an episode of YTN's News and Issues-Issue and People, Seo In Guk talked about his battle with bulimia. He was told to diet and lose a few pounds during his first JYP Entertainment audition. After that, he began struggling with his weight. He became obsessed with losing weight that he would throw up after eating. He realized that he lose enough weight so he returned for the second audition. He was rejected due to her damaged vocal cords as a result of vomiting. He used this rejection to change his bad habits. He regained his self-confidence when he won the Superstar K program. He showed everyone that he is a talented singer and actor.
