15&'s Baek Yerin Departs From JYP & Reveals Future Plans

The singer shared the news through an Instagram post.

Yerin started her post, revealing that her contract with JYP will end. After that, she mentioned about her being a hard-working while at JYP for more than a decade since she was in elementary school. Then Yerin said, "I received the gift of excellent and priceless opportunities, and even though I still lack many things, they taught me a lot as I became the person I am today and lend me gifts."

Yerin also expressed her appreciation the important people behind her success saying, "I am so thankful to the president who worked with me for a very long time and acted the part that was at times like my parent and from time to time like my teacher and guardian, to Park Jin Young. We have settled on becoming best friends. Also, thank you to everyone at JYP."

The artist also unveiled that she is going to start an independent label. And Yeri stated that she feels sad as well as she has been with the company for a long time, and being on her own is a little bit terrifying. She further stated, "But I want to raise my strength and let you hear plenty of amazing things!"

Yeri concluded her post remarking, "I will strive to keep improving. I am always indebted to the love and support you give me!"

In related news, Yerin's fellow 15& member Park Jimin has also decided not to renew her contract with JYP Entertainment after its expiration this past August.

Singer/songwriter Baek Yerin joined JYPE in 2007 and trained for five years in South Korea and the United States. On October 7, 2012, Yerin debuted as a member of a duo called 15& alongside Park Jimin, with the single "I Dream."

Yerin had her solo debut in November 2015 with her first extended play called "Frank." On June 20, 2016, she released her first digital single titled "Bye Bye My Blue." In 2018, she founded "The Volunteers" together with an independent rock band "Bye Bye Badman." They launched their English-language, post-grunge rock EP called "Vanity & People."

Yerin's most recent release is the mini-album "Our Love Is Great," issued this March with the title track "Maybe It's Not Our Fault," which she co-wrote and co-composed the lyrics.
