Akdong Musician recently partaken in a photoshoot and an interview for Nylon's October issue!
During the interview, Lee Su Hyun and Lee Chan Hyuk both tackled about their new album "Sailing" as well as Chan Hyuk's time completing his duties in the Marine Corps. He said, "I wrote most of the songs of the tracklist inside a ship. There was nothing much to do, and there were lots of things I felt while coming across this new world for the first time." "The basis of 'Sailing' derived from my experiences for the last two years of my life," he added. He then mentioned that he didn't have with him any instruments, so he had to make the melodies through his voice and penned the lyrics as poems first.
When Nylon noted that Lee Chan Hyuk seemed to have utilized the vessel as his personal studio, Lee Su Hyun questioned, "Didn't you get seasick?" Her brother answered, "Of course. The song that I wrote while I lie down and suffer was 'Night, Endless Night.' I even incorporated that in the lyrics, that regardless of sleeping and sleeping, you'll keep on feeling sleepy."
Lee Su Hyun then unveiled the complex process of receiving the songs from Lee Chan Hyuk while he was still enlisted, stating, "There was no way for us to mail the demo files. So whenever he would call me to sing the lines, I would need to turn on the speakerphone and use another device to record him." She continued, "The quality was so poor, and it was the worst point because I hardly hear the lyrics."
Su Hyun later detailed the differences between herself and her brother, explaining, "Chan Hyuk unravels his troubles about music through music, and as for me, I don't listen to music at all, and I just keep my phone away from me."
The duo then revealed their goals for their 20s. Lee Su Hyun shared, "I want to go out on a date. I don't know if it's because I am way too fussy, but I honestly haven't dated yet." Meanwhile, Lee Chan Hyuk said that he wants to go on an outing with his sister and converse about in-depth topics, something they haven't done before.
"Sailing" will be launched on September 25 at 6 p.m. KST.
