G-Dragon is wrapping up his mandatory military service on Oct 26. He enlisted on Feb 2018, despite numerous rumors of preferential treatment during his military service; he is to be discharged about a month earlier due to the shortened military service period.

His military service was not only smooth sail. He was under controversy over favors last year due to suspicions that he underwent surgery on his ankle and was hospitalized in a single room at a military hospital. Back in March, there were speculations that he is to be discharged from the military early after reviewing whether he would serve as a public service worker or be given a disqualified conscription status and be transferred to the Civil Defense Corps.

The final decision of G-Dragon was that he is fit for active-duty service and that he should continue to serve in the military to complete his remaining service. Recently, he was sighted at the wedding of his older sister, fashion entrepreneur Kwon Dam-mi and actor Kim Minjoon.

Thousands of fans are expected to gather on G-Dragon's discharge, according to G-Dragon fan Twitter, more than 2,000 fans from Japan and China, as well as from Korea will come on tourists' buses.

Following G-Dragon, Taeyang is scheduled to be discharged next month on Nov 10. He is also expected to be greeted by numerous domestic and foreign fans as he did when enlisted.

While the Big Bang members served in the military, the controversy surrounding their management YG Entertainment continued. YG Entertainment's head yang Hyun-suk resigned from all posts in June and is currently under investigation over suspicions of gambling overseas.

The former youngest member of Big Bang, Seungri, due to the "Burning Sun Scandal," resigned from the entertainment industry in March and ended his contract with his agency. While Daesung, who is serving in the military, was embroiled in controversy about prostitution taking place at a building owned by him.
