Many fans of the group and netizens have always wondered if SM Entertainment's girl group f(x), who used to be such a popular group back in the days, will there be a possible chance for them to be active again. The said group has been inactive for so long that the people thought that they have already disbanded or are saying that they just might as well.

When Eric Nam interviewed Amber Liu in a YouTube video on what she thinks about f(x) and why there wasn't more from them, she stated:

"There are so many people who have to greenlight a single project, but you know, I want to let the fans know, and let you know, our hearts-me and the bandmates-our hearts have always been like, let's do f(x). Let's do f(x)."

On a positive and hopeful note, Amber did also mentioned f(x) doing something again for their fans is a possibility if they are given a chance, the right circumstance, and timing to release.

Amber Liu has also reported the resumption of her activities. Amber informed her SNS on Monday that she will release a new single last November, and she apologized for the recent delay in the schedule and the confusion that has caused in the various social media platforms. As her bandmate, Sulli, died suddenly recently. At that time, Amber was gearing up to release her brand new single, "Other People." However, due to the news about Sulli, Amber had to postpone her schedule and returned to Korea. She already flew back to the United States on October 23 after Sulli's memorial.

On this news, she released a statement on her official Instagram account with a message saying: "Hi everyone, I just want to say sorry for the delay and any confusion I may have caused recently through my socials. I will still be going on tour for Tour X early next year, and my following single "Other People" on the X album is releasing the first week of November. Thank you so much for your patience, understanding, and words of encouragement. I hope to see you all soon!"

Amber added that she plans to do the "X Tour" early in 2020. Additionally, her brand new album released in the first week of November. She closed the statement by thanking fans as they continue waiting for her, and she also thanked them for their understanding and for keeping cheering for her and her plans.

Amber debuted as one of the five members of the K-pop girl group f(x) in 2009. The group f(x) debuted under SM Entertainment. After Sulli decided to leave the group in 2015, Victoria, Amber, Luna, and Krystal continued as four members to release their fourth studio album, 4 Walls in October 2015, followed by their second Japanese physical single album, 4 Walls / Cowboy, in November. And since then, those were the last group albums f(x) produced. Amber has also parted ways with in September last year. Since then, she signed a contract with Steel Wool Entertainment in the United States. She likewise announced her global activities shortly after but had to put them on hold.
