Ovan spoke out on rumors circulating online that there is chart manipulation after his newly-released single 'I Need You' reached the number 1 spot on Genie's real time music chart. It surpassed other trending songs such as BTS's 'ON' and IU's 'Give You My Heart'. His single was released on March 5 and the following day, he took to his Instagram to air his sentiments.

In an Instagram Story, Ovan expressed his feelings about the rumors against his latest single. He was quoted saying, "I don't want [to hurt] and I don't want to disgust anyone. It is not a lie. I apologize as I am that someone who is questioned since I am not worthy. I am sorry. However, it is totally not a lie."

This is not the very first time that OVAN's name is dragged in such rumors. He underwent the same accusations in 2018 with his single 'TWENTY' where it sky-rocketed on top of the music charts. His agency declared that they have filed lawsuits against those malicious stories aimed towards their artists. Before wrapping up 2019, it was revealed that the case was closed and those who were accused received penalties while the others underwent probationary sentences.

As of the moment, Ovan's 'I Need You' is on top of the Genie's real time music chart. He overlapped BTS's 'On' while Zico's 'Any Song' landed on the 3rd spot. IU's single is currently still on the Top 10. This ranking is as of March 6, 2020 14:00, KST.

Ovan is a South Korean Hip-hop singer and rapper born on the December 2, 1997. The 22-year-old solo artist was nominated in Mnet Asian Award for Best Collaboration.

Ovan reacted to rumors with an apologetic speech yet it brings an air of innate pain that would normally be felt if people would question someone's worth. Despite this, some of his listeners have shown support by reacting on his Instagram post.

Some positive comments are the following:

"Thank you for letting me listen to such a good song."

"congratulations!! Ovan, I have been listening to your other songs? I'll support you more️"

"It's a good song, literally a good song."

While the success of famous K-pop artists is being applauded and celebrated, Ovan, a budding artist received the opposite. He should've been on cloud 9 knowing that his track hit the peak of the music chart, but he felt dismayed instead. Somehow, Ovan reacted to rumors to speak for his side and assure them that it is not a lie. His agency, meanwhile, hasn't released a statement regarding this matter.
