American celebrity Shallon Lester is currently under fire for criticizing BTS and MONSTA X, questioning their sexual orientation, calling them female, and much worse!
In her recent video uploaded on her social media account, Shallon Lester ridiculed the appearances of the members of BTS while showing a BTS x FILA poster on her screen camera. She called the group "women."
"We've got BTS ladies. I really can't get it. I'm not...look at these gentlemen. I don't even really know how to describe and call these men, guys or women, because I don't know what they are," she said.
"Take a gander at the highlights," she said, pointing to Jimin's hair. "The highlights of that chunky Toni & Guy mall salon and the contact lenses. You are an Asian. You don't have to pose like a woman with lump highlights and blue eyes called Ashleigh. You're supposed to look like a dark-haired Asian guy with dark eye colors. Each of you must!"
"Why are you all having the same, odd orange? Girl," retorted Shallon Lester as she put J-Hope's face up to the camera. "What lipstick shade is that? You look amazing."
"Oh, and this one, Oh Pinky Lee," she expressed, pointing to Jungkook and the shade of his hair. "I don't, Just how are you people can tell who is who from these people?"
Shallon Lester expressed her thoughts, after putting the poster down, on how Asian men should "be allowed" to look, dress, among others.
"I think it's odd that Asians should be expected to look Asian? I don't understand. Call me insane," she stated.
Shallon Lester made similar remarks about MONSTA X, in contrast to questioning BTS' clothing, makeup appearance, and eye lenses.
"You cannot deceive me, that's BTS, too. You can say it's MONSTA X, but they also have an exact look, they have almost the same crazy contacts, there's really no way these guys are different. There's just no way these guys are different," she said.
She has denounced their looks after dwelling on MONSTA X's hair and contacts.
"What kind of clothes are they putting this guy in? It's like being from a 1996 Nautica commercial, like this one. This look just makes no sense whatsoever. You've got a chunky knit sweater that hangs down over a flannel bathrobe with other bathrobe garments," the foreign actress said.
Shallon was called out by K-pop fans for her blatant, "racist," and "narrow-minded" remarks.
"I can pretty much guarantee you, Shallon Lester, MONSTA X doesn't look like BTS. You are evidently an insensitive and consciously racist woman who promotes the notion that "all Asians are alive. Grow up!" Wrote a fan.
Billboard writer Jeff Benjamin has spoken out against the actress, saying that the real problem is not K-pop's criticisms of Shallon Lester, but rather the "close-minded and ignorant remarks about a whole race."
"It's not just about Shallon Lester who mocks K-pop, it's a guy who makes intimate, sensitive comments from hundreds of millions of subscribers about an entire race, presenting their actions oddly" because it does not suit the expectations," Benjamin added.
This was not the first instance Shallon Lester has been heavily criticized on the web. She has also come under scrutiny many times for her xenophobic remarks by shading singer Selena Gomez. "At least, I am not an undocumented immigrant," she said in a viral video, pertaining to Gomez.
