Heechul made his rebuttals against a media reporter who criticized him about his statement about malicious commenters of late idols Sulli and Goo Hara.
On April 20, the Super Junior member revealed on JTBC's "7.7 Million Love" how he felt frustrated after continuously seeing malicious comments towards the late stars Sulli and Goo Hara. Afterward, a reporter named Wi Geun Woo shared a lengthy message on his Instagram account.
"The late Sulli was victimized by both male and female malicious commenters; it seems to me that to replace the faults of these malicious commenters with issues of gender conflicts and to call out both sides in the ongoing conflict as 'wrong' is a mistake," the reporter wrote.
"Kim Heechul's statement should not be referred [to] as the late Sulli's own perceptions, and the more his words are seen as such, the more criticism he should receive," he went on.
Such comments didn't sit right with the K-pop idol, so he didn't keep silent and lambasted Wi Geun Woo.
"Ahjusshi. Is it actually that important whether those malicious commenters are 'male or female'? Despite their gender, on the off chance that they perpetrate wrongdoings, at that point, they're simply criminals," Heechul began.
"Also, my song 'Charm of Life' is directed toward vindictive individuals who spread bits of gossip about me and composed disparaging remarks about me. Where do you think it has anything to do with me calling out feminists? I and many of my acquaintances are still mourning and grieving over those two friends and the topic was only brought up very carefully. So, who are you to write anything like this, using the names of the deceased?" He went on.
"I wanted to just ignore this because if all of this becomes a news topic, then that would be what you want, but, really, you're doing all kinds of s*** to become famous. Lastly, do not use the deceased as tools in your petty fights," the K-pop star concluded.
Due to this, tons of ELFs and online users lauded Heechul.
The Super Junior member didn't stop there as shared another post, expressing his contempt for Wi Geun Woo.
"It disgusted me seeing this person, considering himself a columnist extravagantly breaking down his thoughts and using the deceased as his tools. He has no clue why the deceased endured so many sufferings during their lives, how much agony they endured," Heechul wrote.
"After bidding farewell to my two friends last year, I lost most of my interest in keeping my image up as a celebrity. I told my company that I wanted to rest and also received therapy here and there. But if I didn't speak up, I thought my fans might pick fights with those trash reporters again," he added.
Heechul then ended his post with, "Whoever comes across malicious comments or false accusations involving me, please leave them here in this gallery or where ever you feel comfortable. I will personally hire a lawyer and take strict legal action."
Kim Heechul was known to be friends with Sulli and Goo Hara. He even took care of Goblin, the cat of Sulli, before turning it over to the late star's best friend.
