Big Hit Entertainment has once again postponed and announced their plans to reschedule BTS's "Map of The Soul" World Tour due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The agency's statement reads:
"Hello everyone, this is Big Hit Entertainment.
The following is an update about the schedule for BTS '"Map of the Soul" World Tour.
The decision was taken to make arrangements and reschedule the "Map of the Soul" tour entirely, which was initially scheduled to take place in April 2020.
With COVID-19's global spread, the concert's Seoul appearances had recently been canceled in February, with the corresponding adjournment of the tour's North American leg in March. Ticket sales for the shows in Europe and Japan are probable
This tour includes staff and operators from throughout the globe, as well as multinational logistics networks, taking part. Although circumstances have strengthened in some countries, regions, and cities, including Korea, it is difficult to produce the decision to continue the touring contingent on these latest developments.
Because of the essence of BTS tours requiring travel by thousands of foreign fans, no matter where the shows are performed, it is also complicated to restart the tour with the existing tight cross-border travel restrictions still in effect. Therefore, it is difficult to determine at this period when the first show that marks the beginning of the tour will commence.
We, therefore, have taken the tough decision to withdraw the recently announced touring schedule and have established a new program plan.
Big Hit Entertainment will reschedule the tour entirely as well as provide the fans with a new world tour date as soon as it is apparent when the tour will commence. As the crisis at COVID-19 continues to develop, this will take considerable time.
We'll work hard to ensure, however, that BTS and their supporters can see each other as quickly and efficiently as possible. We will also develop new approaches for our musicians to connect with their fans and adapt to the "New Normal" while waiting for COVID-19 to stop and for the activities to continue.
The choice to postpone and reschedule the entire tour was produced in the utmost concern of the health and wellbeing of our musicians and supporters. We have spent significant time planning the absolute best performances, and we aim to demonstrate our gratitude for your patience by aiming to produce the best shows.
We will notify everyone of this and other additional adjustments with honesty and dedication to transparency, and continue to provide updates.
We ask you to consider kindly the circumstances behind the whole decision about the "Map of the Soul" tour. We will make every effort to get you the absolute best performance and concert experiences.
Thank you."
"Map of The Soul" tour was initially expected to transpire in Seoul on April 11, 12, 18, and 19, but the performances were halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic and were also scrapped due to public concerns.
BTS was expected to begin performances and tours in North America at the end of April, with the dates of the US tour canceled, and they were also planned to embark tour in Europe and Japan before the tour ends in September.
