BIGBANG's T.O.P released a photo with a dim atmosphere on his social media account.
On May 3, T.O.P, member of the "Kings of K-pop" band, posted a photo on his Instagram page that appears to contain his recent activities. In the photo, T.O.P showed off his handsome face in a monochromatic image and still showed his warm-hearted status, capturing fans' attention.
Some fans then concluded that T.O.P is preparing something as if hinting his supporters to wait for his return.
BIGBANG was supposed to make their first return on stage last month at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, but it was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Coachella is rumored to commence sometime in October.
Coachella is a significant event that attracts over 250,000 people every year, making it a perfect return stage for the band to resume its activities. For this year's supposed headliner, Rage Again the Machine, Travis Scott and Frank Ocean were coming if the festival pushed through.
VIPs have been anticipating the group's comeback after all of the members were discharged from the military in 2019. BIGBANG has also made their third renewal of the contract with YG Entertainment. The band has also drawn keen attention from both inside and outside the country as it marks their start as a four-member group and because it would be their first stage in three years.
Meanwhile, a series of local music festivals have also been canceled as COVID-19 has spread sharply in the US. In particular, the "South by Southwest" or SXSW, which was scheduled to be held in Austin, Texas this month, has also scrapped.
K-pop has also been hit by events that have been consistently featured by Korean singers every year. In fact, SM Entertainment's founder Lee Soo Man was highly anticipated as he was tapped as the keynote speaker for this year's conference. In two years and four months, the band "New Boy," led by vocalist Hwang SoYoon, who recently released a new album "Nonadaptation," was scheduled to perform.
Miami's mega-electronic dance music festival, the Ultra Music Festival (UMF), was scheduled to be held on Monday, but it was canceled, too. It is an annual festival held since 1999, and it's the first time in 21 years that the event has been canceled.
On the other hand, T.O.P previously announced that he won't be having a comeback in South Korea for now. Nonetheless, their contract renewal with YG has set fans in anticipation of the music the BIGBANG is preparing for VIPs.
