Korean netizens are disappointed and were not happy after Song Min Ho or also known as Mino, a member of the K-pop boy group WINNER, visited a club in Gangwon-do during the social distance setting period and allegedly breaking the rules.
On May 11, a Korean media outlet released a report stating that the male idol, Song Min Ho dropped by a club in Yangyang County, Gangwon Province, amidst the rule of social distancing that is set by South Korean government and is also observed in various countries to prevent the mass infection of coronavirus.
According to the reports, WINNER's Song Min Ho, who came in the club in Gangwon-do, grabbed a microphone and set up the DJ box to perform his solo song "Fiancé," which flustered the netizens and fans. The article came with Mino's photo.
According to Dispatch, the person who seemed to be having fun is believed to be the male idol. It can also be seen that he is singing with a mask which is only attached to his chin and not covering his mouth. Those who were in the club are also showing signs of complacency, wearing masks on their jaws.
According to the related club official through a Korean media outlet, they did not officially invite Mino. In addition to this, the club official claimed that "There were few customers as it was the end of the holiday."
YG Entertainment said on the 12th, "Song Min Ho was confirmed to have been on a personal trip with acquaintances recently. We are sorry for the trouble we caused to so many people. We will pay special attention to the artists in the future so that our artists can practice their personal hygiene and social distancing thoroughly."
Korean netizens are said to be extremely disappointed by Mino's act claiming that the male idol broke the rule of social distancing amidst the resurgence of coronavirus in the area. It's also a time wherein the government is strictly monitoring social distancing, so the singer's blatant disregard tot he law is upsetting.
According to health authorities, the number of confirmed cases related to Itaewon clubs stood at around 101 nationwide as of Wednesday morning.
Earlier, former KARA's Park Gyuri received criticism as well after reportedly going to the same Itaewon club that patient No.66 visited on the same day. Shortly after, the female artists sent an apology letter and revealed that she already conducted a virus testing where she tested negative and is currently on self-quarantine.
As the fear of netizens escalated, some Korean personalities are also being linked to the Itaewon club controversy, including 2 AM's Jo Kwon, which eventually lashed out the claim and warned the netizens that are going after him that he will sue them for defamation. At the same time, Hong Seok Cheon received sarcastic remarks for being silent.
Amid the series of controversial visits to clubs without observing social distancing, fans and netizens are still waiting for Song Mino's official statement regarding the issue to explain his side as well.
