Black voices deserve to be heard. The Black Lives Matter is an international human rights movement which campaigns to end violence, injustice and systematic racism towards the community of black people. Fighting for the rights of black people has been going on for a long time. And by 2013, this movement was formed with the use of the hashtag #BlackLivesMatter on social media.
For the past week, the black community was outraged after the death of George Floyd, which is an unarmed black man, pinned down to the ground by a white police officer in Minneapolis. A lot of western celebrities supported this movement, and numerous Korean idols have also joined the rest of the world for the Black Lives Matter movement by openly supporting and donating on multiple platforms.
Jay Park
On the 28th of May, the rapper, singer, and founder of AOMG posted on Twitter and on his Instagram that he donated $10,000 to the Black Lives Matter Global Network along with the words of "Pray to God the truth prevails."
H1GHRMUSIC
Along with Jay Park, the whole label and artists of H1GHRMUSIC have also collectively donated $21,000 to the Black Lives Matter organization and also participated in Black Out Tuesday on the 2nd of June.
GOT7 Mark Tuan
The LA-born eldest member of GOT7 also supported the movement as posted on his twitter account and donated $7,000 to the organization.
DAY6 Jae
Another idol from JYP Entertainment, the Korean-American vocalist and electric guitarist of Day6 spoke up on twitter and shared his part on donating to the movement with $1,000.
Momoland
The whole active members of MOMOLAND shared their posts on their individual accounts sharing #BlackLivesMatter on their Instagram stories.
Former 2NE1 CL and Minzy
The two former members from 2NE1 raised their voice and shared photos for the #BlackLivesMatter movement.
Girls' Generation Tiffany Young
A member from SM Entertainment's Girls' Generation shared a couple of posts on her Instagram about the issue as well.
Holland
The first-ever K-Pop idol who openly admitted for being a part of the LGBTQ+ community in the Korean industry shared his support by tweeting #BlackLivesMatter.
LOCO
Rapper LOCO, who is currently in service for the military, also had his contribution recorded as posted on his Instagram story.
Kim Samuel
The past Produce 101 Season 2 Contestant American-born solo singer Kim Samuel shows support for #BlackLivesMatter with photos of protests around America along with the words of "Spread the words, we're all the same people."
CRUSH
R&B and hip hop singer Crush from P Nation also posted on Instagram with his thoughts on the issue.
Jessica
Rapper Jessica from P Nation also posted and shared her thoughts on Instagram.
EPIK HIGH Tablo
The South Korean alternative hip hop group formed in 2001, their frontman Tablo posted on twitter demanding for justice through texting Floyd on 55156.
BTOB Peniel
BTOB member Peniel shared a petition on his Twitter account.
Red Velvet Yeri
Red Velvet's maknae uploaded a story sharing a post made by her friend and former SM trainee Herin Seo.
Jamie
The well-known former MC of After School Club and solo singer Jamie shared a post on her Instagram story.
Eric Nam
The other well-known MC from After School Club with Jamie also shared his thoughts on Twitter regarding the movement.
SECRET NUMBER Denise
The newly debuted group from Vine Entertainment Secret Number member Denise posted on her personal Instagram account using her voice to speak up on the BLM Movement. However, as soon as she posted this, the fans noticed that her account was permanently removed on Instagram. Her recently posted selfie was deleted as well.
APRIL Jinsol
DSP Media's APRIL member Jinsol shared two posts on her Instagram story and donated on the movement as well.
DEAN
The alternative R&B singer-songwriter and rapper posted a photo from the protest on his Instagram stories as well.
2Z
Another newly debuted group early January, 2Z, a five-member boy band under Morph Management, posted a photo on their Instagram account showing their support for the movement.
NCT127 Johnny
Johnny posted on his personal Instagram about the hashtag as well and wishing for everyone's safety.
KARD BM
Another idol from DSP Media's co-ed band KARD, BM shared three posts on his Instagram account sharing how the Black culture influenced him.
BIGBANG Taeyang
The main vocalist of the group BIGBANG Taeyang also shared a post on his Instagram account.
