Directly opposed to the critics' presumptions, the achievement and success of BLACKPINK were not just handed over to them. BLACKPINK has changed the Korean music industry and took the world by storm when they made their debut on the 8th of August 2016.
Throughout this time people all over the world began calling themselves "BLINKs" to embody the title of the fan community of BLACKPINK. Since then they have begun to accumulate millions of fans, but according to several detractors' opinions, success didn't come easy to them.
In search of her ambitions, Lisa, the band's dancer who comes from Thailand, went to South Korea. Before she arrived in Korea in 2011, she can't speak and understand a single Korean word. Through years of living in the country, she has learned to speak it fluently.
Meanwhile the other members have their own struggles as well. Jennie started training at a young age and endured six years oof hardwork before debuting. Jisoo, who was also glued with YG Entertainment even when she was being tapped up as a trainee by an SM Entertainment casting representative, also shared her hardships saying she has to go through several classes each day.
On the other hand, Rosé, who has always dreamed of being a star, traveled to several major metropolitan areas all the way from her rural town in Australia just to attend auditions. This was hard for her but she really didn't let the setbacks impact her path to become a well-loved star and artist.
Rosé and Jisoo shared the personal stories and experiences they had to go through before being the well-known BLACKPINK members they are today.
"We would have to get classes for almost everything."
They had to take a great deal of learning activities in many specialties throughout that moment because they are required to be well-rounded professionals.
"I think of those times a lot. We had so much homework to do. During our trainee years, we would work at noon and get off at 2 A.M the next day. We would take Japanese lessons, English lessons, and crump lessons. Dance lessons and Vocal lessons."
Rosé can't help but shed tears as she expressed her emotions, particularly as she shared how she misses her parents greatly during those days. Can you imagine a young teenager living away from home and training each day? That's one of the prices you have to pay in order to become an idol.
Of course, she was consoled by her three good friends. "It's okay, we understand it was a tough time for all of us." They all sympathized with her since all of them had such difficult times in their trainee years.
It has been an exhausting number of years, but this month BLACKPINK returns bigger and more powerful than ever. The only question that remains is: Are you fully prepared, BLINKs?
