On July 26, Super Junior's Kyuhyun expressed his sentiments through his personal Twitter account to address the issue and the sudden surge of hate he received from netizens.
He faced an immense backlash from K-pop fans after he liked a post "shading" married idols, which is, in fact, posted several weeks ago. In the fan account's post, the user talked about how they were impressed with idols getting married in the correct order of events. In addition to this, the user also talked about the idols getting married through a new normal way.
The post, which was liked by Kyuhyun, was pertained by other netizens and fans to be disrespectful to other married idols who had a child or lived together first before getting married.
Due to this, the post grew bigger, and with the accusation and assumption of some fandoms that Kyuhyun is "shading" other known married idols, #Kyuhyun_/OUT and #Kyu/Hyun trended overnight.
The Super Junior member received tremendous hate and criticism from K-pop fans and called him "problematic." This also opened up his past "issues," allegedly pressing other K-pop idols.
Later on, Kyuhyun was notified about this issue and responded with a Twitter post. According to his explanation, he's not aware of him "liking any post."
"I'm not even good at social media [...] I can't remember pressing like on that [post]."
On a private message to ELFs, Super Junior fandom, through Lysn Bubble, he also talked about the issue and confirmed that he never liked a post like that. Thus, supporters of the idol concluded that it was just a slip of his hand while scrolling related posts. In addition, he also saw the hashtag demanding him to withdraw from the group, and he savagely responded, "Kyuhyun out? I don't care what this is, but hahaha."
Moreover, the fan account who made the post also clarified that they are not pertaining to specific names, and conveyed that they are just surprised to see idols getting married in an unexpected order.
In their post as well, they hoped that people wouldn't misunderstand Kyuhyun's intention to liking the post, and also think it was just a mistake.
On the other hand, ELFs did not stay still with the unreasonable hate that their idol was receiving and even planned to collect hateful postings targetted to the idol.
Recently, Super Junior's Heechul hired six lawyers to fight the severe online trolling (which includes cyber-bullying and malicious comments from netizens.) This is not only applicable to him but as well as to his beloved members.
Further, Kyuhyun's supporters are hoping that netizens and fans hating the idol will apologize to him and delete hateful comments about him. As of press time, the hashtag #ApologizeToKyuHyun is trending, and more and more fans from different fan bases are speaking out to stand up to the K-pop star.
Kyuhyun recently dropped his new song, "Dreaming," which is the first song under his "Four Seasons Project: 'PROJECT: 季.'" It consists of four singles, representing each of the yearly seasons: Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter.
