BTS's V has been left out again, and fans are sick and tired of it.
On August 13, Thursday, Big Hit Entertainment released the first trailer for BTS's fourth documentary, "Break the Silence: The Movie", set to be released in theaters on September 10.
While fans were initially excited to see more behind-the-scenes clips and unreleased footage from BTS's "LOVE YOURSELF: SPEAK YOURSELF" world tour, one error caused them to be angry instead.
Fans noticed how a theater chain called AMC Theatres had included V's name in the movie's description - it's even the first name there - but had left him out of the cast members listing. The other six members were included in both the description and the cast and crew listings as actors.
This error upset fans immensely, as it is not the first time V has been left out from official promotions teasers. Fans pointed out how his name was left out from TinyTAN merchandise and his signature was left out from the Baskin Robbin's advertisement. In January 2019, V was left out of a BTS tribute at the 2019 Gaon Chart Music Awards, with V being the only member to not be quoted.
This had even happened when the "Bring the Soul" movie was released last year. That time, Vox Cinema had not included V in the cast members listing despite having him in the trailer and the official movie poster.
Fans have started reaching out to AMC Theatres through Twitter, informing them that BTS is seven members and to update their cast members listing to include V.
Additionally, fans are trending "BTS is 7" to emphasize that no member should ever be left out. Fans are also trending "WE LOVE YOU KIM TAEHYUNG", with Kim Taehyun being V's real name. Fans started the trend in the hopes that V is reminded of how much love ARMYs have for him.
AMC Theatres has yet to respond to the backlash. As of August 14, Friday, they have not edited their official website.
V, whose real name is Kim Taehyung, debuted with BTS in 2013 under Big Hit Entertainment. In 2015, he was credited for writing the lyrics "Hold Me Tight" and "Fun Boyz", which was part of their third extended play "The Most Beautiful Moment in Life, Part 1". He also contributed to the composition and the lyrics for solo song "Stigma", which was part of their "Wings" album and was released in 2016. He released his second solo song "Singularity" in 2018 with BTS's third studio album "Love Yourself: Tear", and was met with immense positive praise from Billboard, The Guardian, The New York Times, LA Times, and music critic Laura Snapes. His third solo song, "Inner Child", was released in 2020 and included in BTS's album "Map of the Soul: 7".
He, with BTS member J-Hope, collaborated with Zara Larsson on a song called "Brand New Day", which was included in the soundtrack for their mobile game "BTS World". He has also worked with BTS member Jimin for the song "Friends", included in "Map of the Soul: 7".
In 2016, V made his acting debut with a supporting role in the historical drama "Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth". In 2019, V released the song "Scenery", his first solo sound outside of BTS, to the group's SoundCloud page. It reached 100 million streams in fourteen days and broke the daily streaming record nine times. Seven months later, he released his second solo song and first full English song "Winter Bear".
In 2020, he released an indie-pop song "Sweet Night" for the soundtrack of the drama "Itaewon Class". The song is sung entirely in English.
