Before pursuing their dreams of being idols and musicians, the girls of BLACKPINK had different dreams in mind. During their interview back in 2019 for Star Road, the girls shared what they originally wanted to be when they grow up.
1. Jennie
Jennie revealed she wanted to be a ballet dancer when she was younger. However, she realized when she was 14 or 15 years old that she wanted to do music and learn how to dance, instead. She said she realized her dream when her mother wanted her to move to Florida for her studies and live alone by herself in the United States. She told Star Road that if her idol dream didn't push through, she would have become a photographer.
2. Jisoo
Jisoo surprised fans when she revealed that she wanted to be a writer! When asked if there was a particular genre she favored, she said she doesn't and that she just likes novel. If Jisoo was a writer, she said she would have dabbled in all sorts of themes and genres. Now we want to read a piece of Jisoo literature!
3. Lisa
Lisa didn't even need a second to think about what she wanted to be as a kid! Lisa revealed she wanted to be a model And she has achieved it with her idol career, modeling for brands Moonshot, AIS Thailand, Samsung Galaxy S10, Adidas, D&G Downy, Zhengoli, and Brawl Stars. She has also dabbled in being a model for high-end fashion brands and is the muse of Italian luxury brand Celine. She is also the brand ambassador for Penshoppe. In 2020, she was selected as the brand ambassador for Bulgari.
Like Jennie, Lisa said that if she didn't debut as an idol, she would've pursued photography.
5. Rosé
Rosé revealed that as a child, she wanted to be an art teacher. Why? Simply because she liked to draw! Fans know of the idol's talents in art, as she showed them BLINKs her artwork back in 2018 during a live stream. Though she was very humble about her work, saying it's not her favorite drawing and it wasn't her best, fans were blown away by her talents. She kept saying that she didn't like one of her drawings and that these are just things she drew when she was bored, but fans complimented the idol for her skills. Rosé said that if she didn't make her debut, she would've pursued a career in art.
The girls are now all part of the superstar girl group BLACKPINK, one of the best-selling girl groups in history. Their latest comeback, "How You Like That" topped the charts of the Gaon digital, download, and streaming charts. It also charted at the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number 33, and the music video for the song broke five Guinness World Records.
BLACKPINK will be releasing a new single featuring Selena Gomez on August 28. They will subsequently release their first full-length studio album, "The Album", on October 2. Member Rosé will be making her solo debut in September 2020.
