On September 23, 2020, KCON:TACT Season 2, also known as KCON:TACT 2020 Fall, announced its first lineup of artists!
KCON Global announced via Twitter that Park Ji Hoon, MAMAMOO, KARD, Ha Sung Woon, LOONA, Sunmi, and AB6IX are part of the first lineup performers for the event, raising expectations sky-high for the event for fans worldwide.
Earlier this month, it was confirmed by CJ ENM and KOCCA that another season of KCON:TACT 2020 would be held from October 16 to 25. The first KCON:TACT 2020, was held in June.
A source from CJ ENM said, "KCON has thus far spearheaded efforts in making K-pop known worldwide, and following, even in this era of "untact" (meaning "no contact"), we will be bringing new experiences of Korean culture and content to Hallyu fans around the world. As international performances are difficult at this time, we hope KCON:TACT 2020 FALL will be an opportunity for fans and artists to become closer."
KCON is an annual Korean wave convention held in locations across the world, created by Koreaboo and organized by CJ E&M. It was first held in Southern California as KCON and has since expanded into eight countries as of 2018.
In 2015, KCON expanded to Japan and quickly announced the first KCON USA on the East Coast. In 2016, KCON expanded into Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, and Paris, France. In January 2017, KCON announced that they would be hosting their first KCON Mexico at the Mexico City Arena on March 17 and 18, 2017.
In the new times of social distancing, KCON has created KCON:TACT, the world's first-ever online K-Culture Festival.
KCON:TACT 2020 SUMMER was first announced in June 2020, with over 4.5 million online audiences from 153 different countries. KCON:TACT also introduced new technology such as MR (Mixed Reality), XR (eXpanded Reality combined with AR and VR), and mobile AR into the event to enhance the audience experience for fans to have the maximized interactions with the artists.
