In order to analyze the brand reputation of idol groups, the Korean Business Research Institute analyzed the brand reputation index by studying 124,739,251 files of data from 100 K-pop groups, with the data having needed to be released from September 24, 2020, to October 24, 2020, only. They also measure the consumer participation index, media index, communication index, and community reception index of the top 100 idol groups. Compared to the 119,583,667 data from the top 100 idols groups last month, data has increased by 4.31%.
The brand reputation rankings is an index created through brand analysis to find how consumers' online habits impact brand consumption. Through the analysis of the brand reputation of K-pop's top 100 groups, we can measure how positively and how negatively a group is perceived, a group's influence in the media, the consumers' interest in the group, and how influential the group is in terms of their social media presence.
The top K-pop group for October is BTS (RM, Suga, Jin, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook), ranking at number one. BTS is analyzed to have a brand reputation index of 14,227,757 with a consumer participation index of 2,285,832, a media index of 2,877,942, a communication index of 4,561,482, and a community index of 4,502,502. Compared with their brand reputation index of 19,856,947 in September, it fell 28.35%.
YG Entertainment girl group BLACKPINK (Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa) ranked at number two. BLACKPINK is analyzed to have a brand reputation index of 12,280,232 with a participation index of 1,618,936, a media index of 1,871,331, a communication index of 4,582,215, and a community index of 4,207,760. Compared with their brand reputation index of 13,138,816 in September, it fell 6.53%.
NCT (Taeil, Johnny, Taeyong, Yuta, Doyoung, Ten, Jaehyun, Winwin, Mark, Renjun, Jeno, Haechan, Jaemin, Chenle, Jisung, Lucas, Jungwoo, Kun, Xiaojun, Yangyang, Hendery, Shotaro, and Sungchan) ranked at third place. NCT has a brand reputation index of 8,520,046 with a participation index of 275,14, a media index of 718,953, a communication index of 4,126,549, and a community index of 3,299,400. Compared with their brand reputation index of 2,505,593 back in September, it rose by 240.04%.
WM Entertainment girl group Oh My Girl (Hyojung, Mimi, YooA, Seunghee, Jiho, Binnie, and Arin) ranked at third place with a brand reputation index of 5,615,965, with a participation index of 1,018,600, a media index of 843,669, a communication index of 1,766,233, and a community index of 1,987,463. Compared with their brand reputation index of 3,628,647 in September, it rose by 54.77%.
Cube Entertainment's multinational girl group (G)I-DLE (Miyeon, Minnie, Soojin, Yuqi, and Shuhua) ranked 5th place with a brand reputation index of 4,191,367. They have a participation index of 169,103, a media index of 528,210, a communication index of 1,779,715, and a community index of 1,724,338. Compared with their brand reputation index of 3,120,394 in September, it rose by 34.31%.
