DPR Ian Makes His Debut With Emotionally Driven MV for 'So Beautiful' Featuring CL

On October 26, 2020 KST, Christian Yu released his first-ever single under the stage name DPR Ian. This single was titled 'So Beautiful' and featured a surprising cameo from the legend herself, CL.

Christian Yu is a musician turned director who founded Dream Perfect Regime (DPR), which is an independent multi-genre music and video group. He was previously known as Rome, the lead singer of the Korean boy band C-Clown from 2012 to 2015. He worked as a director for his DPR Crew which included DPR Live, DPR Cream, and DPR Rem. He directed several of their music videos, including DPR Live's "Jasmine," "Martini Blue," and "Legacy," and DPR Cream's "Color Drive."

As can be seen from his previous work, his aesthetic is distinctly different from regular K-Pop and as such, he has effectively created a name for himself for his unusual taste.

It becomes even more evident in this new single that he has now released under the name of DPR Ian. Considering the sound of the song, it is hard to say which genre he is pursuing but one thing is for sure, the concept is definitely dark and emotionally driven. This has seemed to resonate with his fans who have responded to this release with overwhelming positivity.

The genre is somewhat leaning towards rock, although it is difficult to absolutely define what it is. DPR Ian is unapologetically himself and the music video carries many of the hallmarks of the classic DPR vibe. It also seems like a perfect gift to fans for Halloween.

The vocals are in English and Yu seems quite comfortable with the same. His voice is honey like and husky which appeals to listeners. CL features in the music video as his love interest and this cameo has also excited fans of both artists, happy to see them on screen again.
