Following Irene's bad attitude controversy, Clinique has decided to remove all promotional material featuring the female idol. Read more about it here.
In a report made on October 23, Friday, Clinique has made the decision to remove Irene from their advertisements and promotional material. This was done in line with the guidelines set in place from Clinique's main headquarters. All stories that had posters of Irene will be taking it down and replacing her posters with other images. She has also been removed from Clinique's website.
Irene was named as Clinique's brand ambassador for South Korea and the Asia Pacific back in March 2020. At the time, the brand claimed they chose Irene due to her clean and bright images which reflected the brand's mantra of "healthy and happy skin".
She was also selected for being a member of one of the top groups and being a force to be reckoned with in the Hallyu Wave. Irene was also selected because she can actively communicate with the Millennials around the world and was seen as a good influence as the brand's newest face.
Clinique's move of removing all of their promotional material featuring the idol is being interpreted as a self-saving move following the pressure of Irene's attitude controversy.
Korean netizens agreed with Clinique's move, saying it is only natural a brand would drop her following her controversy. Many also left comments claiming she should leave the group. Read netizens' comments here:
"This move is just natural."
"Poor Clinique."
"Of course they did this. I used to like Irene, but I do not want to see her face now."
"Looking at her now, she does not appear as pretty as before."

"I am still shocked... I can't even imagine Irene's scandal."
"It would be great if she got kicked out of Red Velvet. Do not cause trouble for your young and kind members."
Kang Kook Hwa shared a lengthy to her Instagram account on October 21, exposing a girl group member for her sour personality. Her post did not reveal the name of the girl group member. She exposed the girl for verbally abusing her, recalling how she entered the room without greeting her, and immediately sat down and started insulting her.
In her post, Kang Kook Hwa claimed she had heard whispers from others in the industry about the idol's attitude, but did not know it was to this extent. Netizens had guessed it was a member of Red Velvet, as the post ended with the hashtags #psycho and #monster, two popular song titles from Red Velvet and their first sub-unit featuring Irene and Seulgi, respectively.
