Rumors Say Big Hit and Source Music Will Reveal New Girl Group This Year

Rumors about Big Hit Entertainment and Source Music announcing a new K-Pop girl group are spreading online.

Last year, the two agencies teamed up with each other and held a 'Plus Global Audition,' a worldwide search for members who will form a new K-Pop girl group that is expected to debut in 2021. Applications were open from September 10-28, 2019 for females who were born between 2001 and 2007.

The audition took place from October 5-27 in 16 cities across three continents, specifically Los Angeles, New York City, Perth, Singapore, Melbourne, Busan, Gwangju, Osaka, Taipei, Seoul, Tokyo, Kaohsiung, Hanoi, Bangkok, and Ho Chi Minh.

This year, throughout October, rumors are stating that Big Hit Entertainment and Source Music will be announcing a new girl group shortly after the comeback promotions of GFriend. According to one post, the upcoming Korean female act will debut in 2021, sometime in January or February, but the two labels already want to start the group's publicity.

Rumors even say that three former members of the disbanded group PRISTIN from Pledis Entertainment might be part of Big Hit x Source Music's upcoming K-Pop girl group. In particular, these members might be Bae Sungyeon, Kim Yewon, and Zhou Jieqiong also called Kyulkyung. A Produce 48 participant named Huh Yunjin is also allegedly part of the group.

Moreover, some of the former trainees of SM Entertainment who were part of a program in 2015 are rumored to have a spot on the forthcoming girl group. It is also believed that the concept would be a performance-based group with outstanding dancers, and yet another rumor say that the concept of the new girl group is something that is never seen before in the industry.

Furthermore, the name of Big Hit x Source Music's new girl group is assumed to be 'HYBE' and that it would comprise of five to six members. Rumors also state that Big Hit and Source Music have already investigated the girls' past, specifically about their school years.

Other than that, there's a rumor that the background voice in the music video of TXT's "Blue Hour allegedly belong to one of the girls who already secured a spot in the final lineup of the new K-Pop girl group.

If the rumors turn out to be true, the upcoming girl group will Big Hit's third female act, following GLAM and GFriend. Also, it will be the first one to debut under the company in collaboration with Source Music after six years since GFriend's debut on January 15, 2015.

GLAM was the first girl group of Big Hit x Source Music that debuted in 2012 and consisted of five members, namely Miso, Trinity, Jiyeon, Zinni, and Dahee. It only lasted for two years due to a controversy that involves one GLAM member, specifically Dahee, who was prisoned after blackmailing a South Korean actor.

Meanwhile, GFriend is set to return on November 9 with their third studio album titled "Walpurgis Night, which is composed of 11 tracks including the lead single "Mago.
