MINO released the piano version of his title track 'Run Away' from his latest album "TAKE" on Nov. 9. The original song's strong vibe is transformed into a touching and soft melody, albeit retaining the hardcore rap elements. MINO plays the piano himself while also performing at the same time, and the live performance is truly an example of his brilliant artistry in the field of music.
Some comments that Netizens left under his video include:
"Mino is an artist, not just an idol. Dont debate me."
"As expected from Song Mino. He is talented. Song Mino, this version is so beautiful. You are really amazing. Song Mino is amazing"
"Mino can really do everything that he wanted to do. There's no "CAN'T". It's always possible. He is a person who will always push what he wanted to do. Being a model? Yes. Being an artist? Yes. Learning different types of instruments? Yes. Producing his own album? Yes. Having his own business? Yes. I think everyone already recognized him being an artist already. So i'm really proud to be his fan."
"It's no longer enough to say mino has duality, i'd call it multifaceted. He has so many sides to show us. I love cute aegyo Mino, swag rapper Mino, funny variety Mino, introspective artist Mino, and this pure vulnerable Mino."
The music video is immensely artistic and expresses MINO's sensibilities perfectly. His vocals are absolutely flawless, and his rap is unmatched. MINO's flow goes from mellow and slow to extremely fast in a matter of seconds. His expertise and genius in his field are displayed with grace and a lot of artistic indulgence in the music video for 'Runaway.' The performance video also captures MINO's artistic spirit uniquely, very different from the music video but also very authentic to MINO himself. With regards to his album, MINO said, "It is an album that contains a total of 12 songs. The reason why the album was named "TAKE" was because of the sense of gathering the best takes of a movie to form an album. I wanted to give that feeling."
The title song 'Run Away' is a compelling song with hip-hop and rap elements that contrasts with the cold feeling of 'Verse' and an intensely popping hook that immediately grabs the listeners' attention. It is an emotional hip-hop number with a different charm from the solo song that MINO previously showed. His rapping, which started low, but poured out without time to breathe, foretold a swirl of emotion.
MINO shared the story behind his song "Runaway."
"I went to Bali with the WINNER members. While in a perfect resort, I was soaked with emotions. I first wrote a song while watching the stars in the night sky."
He elaborated about the music video for "Runaway" by saying, "I expressed the message of the song visually and fantastically. Please look for the interesting points."
The music video could be considered very much like an art film or a piece of art itself, which makes it impossible to take your eyes off the screen. MINO said, "It may be somewhat abstract. There are many visual expressions. I think those parts came out well. There is a scene where the shoes run first. I expressed homage to Michel Gondry's film. Those parts are fun. It is a music video that satisfies itself."
In particular, the K-pop singer also said, "I thought the chorus was the public. It felt like it was plugged in easily. The sound is popular, but it seems to contain a lot of my own color. I told my friends about the title song candidates. 'The Runaway' has the most votes."
Other tracks included in the album are "Love and a Boy," "Ok Man" (featuring Bobby from iKon), "Wa" (featuring Zion. T), "I Want To" (featuring meenoi), "Daylight," "Hop In" (featuring DPR Live), "Pow!, Click/Han River View," "Book Store (featuring BewhY)," and "Sunrise and Lost In A Crowd."
All the album tracks are beautifully interconnected and flow into each other naturally, creating a coherent album that is very easy on the ears. MINO's rap is better than ever before, and so is his synergy with all his featuring artists. It is no exaggeration to say that 'TAKE' includes some of the best music he has ever made. "OK Man" featuring Booby of iKon is just as iconic as fans had expected, and it is amazing to see these two rappers working together again after almost four years.
MINO said, "It's been two years since the last album. Thirty songs were completed except for the song that was sketched at first. Among them, I selected 12 songs. Many songs are too wasteful. It overflows." The singer wrote the lyrics and composed all of the songs on this album, just like his first-ever album, "XX."
When asked what inspired him to make this album, MINO said, "I get inspired by direct experiences, movies, and books. It seems to be pouring such ingredients into my arms. I thought a lot to show the perfect creation in this album." He also admitted to journaling his thoughts, which ultimately helped him write this album.
