On Wednesday, Nov. 18, The Seoul High Court revealed the 12 trainees who were unfairly eliminated from their respective season of the "Produce" series. One of the trainees whose rank was manipulated is Lee Gaeun, a former member of After School. One of her former co-members, Jungah, has since commented on her elimination. Read more about it here.
It was revealed that Lee Gaeun was unfairly eliminated in round four of the competition, which is the finals. During the episode's airing, it was announced that she ranked 14th place. However, it was ultimately revealed that she was meant to rank in fifth place. This means that, if her rank was not manipulated, she would have debuted with IZ*ONE.
After news of the manipulated rankings were revealed, former After School member Jungah took to her personal Instagram account to comment on Lee Gaun's unfair, manipulated elimination from "Produce 48". Jungah shared a screenshot of news headlines reporting about Lee Gaun and the show's manipulated ranks, Jungah left a short but sharp message.
"I knew it.."
With that short message, it is widely understood how frustrated Jungah must have been when she discovered Lee Gaun was unfairly eliminated. She and Gaeun were promoted together as a member of After School for nearly four years before they went on a hiatus. During their time promoting and living together, the two developed a close, sisterly bond. During Lee Gaeun's time on the show, she even showed her unnerving support on Instagram, cheering her on.
"Please don't cry... or else I am going to cry too... You were always laughing and took care of your unnies as the maknae but you are actually someone who is deep and sensitive... My Gaeun, you will do amazing!"

Lee Gaeun debuted with After School as a new member in 2012. She was promoted to the group for nearly four years until they went into a hiatus in 2016. Two years after the announcement of their indefinite hiatus, she competed on Mnet's "Produce 48" as a Pledis Entertainment trainee and made it to the finals before being unfairly eliminated 14th place. Following her elimination, she returned to Pledis Entertainment.
In 2019, Pledis Entertainment announced Lee Gaeun departed the company after almost eight years. She later signed with High Entertainment to promote as an actress. Since then, Lee Gaeun was cast as the lead in the web drama "Another Peaceful Day of Second-Hand Items".
Jungah first debuted as a member of Kiss Five before debuting with After School in 2009. She was promoted to become the group's leader following former member Kahi's graduation from the show. She debuted as an actress under Pledis Entertainment in 2012.
In 2016, Pledis Entertainment announced Jungah's contract with Pledis Entertainment expired and that she would not renew, leading her graduation from After School after seven years of promotion with the group. She later debuted as a soloist.
