BTS and BLACKPINK for Grammy: Is It Possible? The U.S. Media Says 'Yes'

The anticipation of music fans for BTS and BLACKPINK participating in the Grammy rises after US media outlets' positive reports.

"Will BTS and BLACKPINK be nominated for the Grammy Awards?"

On Thursday, Nov. 19, Star News, a Korean news outlet, cited two huge international media, Billboard and Apnews, who shared favorable comments about the two biggest K-pop groups' chances of being nominated for Grammy.

Six days before the candidates' announcement for the most prestigious pop music awards in America, the US Billboard wrote an article affirming the high potential of BTS to be chosen as nominees for "Record of The Year," which is a major award.

BTS, the most popular K-pop group from the third-generation, also labeled as "Kings of K-pop" aside from BIGBANG, could possibly secure a spot in the 63rd Grammy Awards to be held next year, due to the mega-success of their recently released track, "Dynamite."

The English disco-pop track which was dropped last August, and received massive support from global music enthusiasts. It recorded numerous achievements in both domestic and international charts. The track also debuted No. 1 on Digital Song Sales Chart, as it earned the biggest digital sales in weeks. Because of this, BTS also became the first-ever South Korean boy group to top Billboard's Hot 100 as well!

If BTS's "Dynamite" will become a candidate for "Record of the Year," this'll be the first boy group to be nominated in 20 years since N Sync's "Bye Bye Bye." Moreover, if the group becomes a nominee, they would be up against international superstars Billie Eilish "Everything I wanted," Post Malone's "Circles," Megan thee Stallion and Beyonce's "Savage," Harry Style's "Adore You," and The Weeknd's "Blinding Lights."

"Record of the Year" is known as part of the four major Grammy Awards, along with "Song of the Year," "Album of the Year," and "Best New Artist."

Meanwhile, the Associated Press, or also known as Apnews, an American non-profit news agency founded in 1846 predicted that BTS could also be nominated for "Best Pop Duo/Group Performance." They based it on the fact that BTS has landed No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100 only after being on the Top 40 for a few years. It is also possible that BTS could be nominated for "Best Global Music Album," said Apnews.

In addition to this, BLACKPINK, who was referred to as the "Biggest Girl Group in the World" was also mentioned by the veteran media, as a group who have a high chance of being included in the "Best New Artist" nominees.

This is due to the successful debut of their first full-length album during the Grammy voting.

On the other hand, the U.S. Record Academy of Arts and Sciences (NARAS), which organizes the prestigious ceremony, will announce its 63rd Grammy Awards on Tuesday, Nov. 24 (Wednesday, Nov. 25 KST).

BTS, a seven-membered group, consisting of RM, Jin, J-Hope, Suga, V, Jimin, and Jungkook along with BLACKPINK, which includes: Jennie, Jisoo, Rose, and Lisa are capturing the attention of K-pop supporters and non-K-pop music fans. If they will indeed be nominated in the Grammy, this will already be a huge achievement in the history of Korean music entertainment.
