Fashionista idol Mino from WINNER has been awarded the 'Issue Trend Award' at the 'Korea Fashion Awards'!
The 'Korea Fashion Awards' is a government hosted awards ceremony that has been happening annually since 2008. The purpose of the awards is to promote promising brands that are making their way to be a global brand. The awards help fashion companies and designers skyrocket their brand's popularity to a global stage.
Awards are given to executives of national brands, designers, and individuals who have helped in the promotion of Korean fashion through digital media and marketing, thus allowing local brands to have the attention of an international stage and allowing the fashion industry in South Korea to develop.
Typically, the Korea Fashion Awards hosts a year-end banquet for fashion companies and individuals who have made a mark in the fashion industry to come together. This is done for people to give out the awards personally to those who have contributed to the globalization of the Korean fashion industry. However, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the year-end banquet for 2020 was canceled.
The award Mino won, 'The Issue Trend Award,' is given to individuals or groups who promoted South Korean fashion through digital media, such as through their social media accounts. It is not hard to see why Mino was given such a prestigious award.
Mino often promoted Korean fashion through his Instagram posts. Because of how often he boasts his unique, one-of-kind fashion sense, Mino influences both his fans and non-fans to look into Korean fashion. He has truly helped widen the reach of Korean fashion, allowing local brands a chance at international popularity, and helped develop the fashion industry in his home country.
In the past, Mino has collaborated with South Korean fashion brands. In Oct. 2018, Mino collaborated with the Korean eyewear brand Gentle Monster and created the 'Burning Planet' exclusive package, which included a special 'Peek-a-Boo' glasses for his collection. The package was only made available to friends of Mino. Notable celebrities who were seen wearing the sunglasses include BLACKPINK's Lisa, iKON's DK, the Kwon Twins from the YG Hitech Dance Team, and Korean rapper and producer Code Kunst.
Mino has also worked with international fashion brands. In 2017, he and fellow WINNER member Hoonywere chosen as brand ambassadors for luxury brand Burberry. In 2018, Mino walked the runway for Louis Vuitton's Spring 2020 Menswear Collection in Paris, France, during Paris Fashion Week.

Mino is a member of the YG Entertainment WINNER and is an active soloist. Back on Oct. 30, Mino dropped his second studio album, "TAKE." The album was written and produced entirely by Mino. The album consists of twelve different songs, including the title track "Run Away." YG Entertainment initially announced that Mino was in the final process of finishing his album and was set to release the next month. Teasers for the new album started dropping on Oct. 15.
Besides his activities in music, Mino is currently a series regular on tvN's "New Journey to the West." He has been a cast member of the show ever since Season 2.5. He is also a cast member of "Kang's Kitchen." which is a spin-off of "New Journey to the West" that also airs on tvN.
