The MVs of these K-pop groups and singers are the most streamed videos in Korea this year!
On Thursday, Dec. 3, YouTube announced that the music video which Korean users watched the most this year was "Dynamite" by the phenomenal group BTS.
Among other K-pop artists who had released their tracks' music videos on the said platform, BTS, IU, ZICO, BLACKPINK, ITZY, and more are the artists who were listed in the top 10.
The data for the most popular MVs on YouTube among Korean viewers were gathered from January 1 to November 15.
Most Popular K-pop MVs in YouTube Korea
BTS is leading and ranked No. 1 for the most popular group MVs among Korean fans and viewers.
Since its initial release on YouTube in August, "Dynamite" surpassed 111 million views within 24 hours. This track helped them to become the first Korean singer to reach the top of the U.S. Billboard's main singles chart "Hot 100," writing a new history in the music industry.
Their music video titled " 'On' - Kinetic Manifesto Film: Come Prima," also ranked third place, which drew the attention of the audience due to their spectacular performance.
BTS achieved numerous records this year as well, including being nominated as "Person of the Year" by US Times, and selected as a candidate for "Best Pop/Group Performance" by GRAMMY.
Next is BLACKPINK, whose "How You Like That" and "Lovesick Girls" ranked fourth and ninth places, respectively.
Along with the release of the girl group's music video in June, "How You Like That" set a new record for YouTube's first-ever number of simultaneous users and views within 24 hours of its initial release. It was also ranked No. 1 among the top 10 global popular summer songs of 2020.
Furthermore, BLACKPINK is also the first K-pop artist with more than 50 million subscribers on YouTube, and the second artist with the most subscribers in the world.
Meanwhile, Zico's "Any Song," which came in January also gained popularity not only on YouTube but as well as in Tiktok, making it on rank No. 2.
The video eventually turned into a challenge due to its addictive tune and simple dance routine, and fans but celebrities participated in the so-called, "Any Song Challenge" as well, proving its fame.
Moreover, IU's "Eight" produced by and featuring BTS Suga ranked fifth, followed by "WANNABE" by JYP's next-generation girl group "ITZY."
Coming in seventh place was Jo Jung Suk's "Aloha," which is a popular OST of the Korean Drama, "Hospital Playlist" starring himself, while eight places were secured by veteran trot singer Na Hoon-a who sang, "Mr. Tes."
Lastly, "Nonstop" MV of the rising group OH MY GIRL was ranked 10th which song lyrics tell the story of their excitement by comparing it to board games and addictive melodies.
YouTube Release Most Viewed Video in Korea
In addition to the official music video, the most viewed YouTube video in Korea this year is the Corona 19 National Action Rules on the official channel of the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Also, various entertainment contents including comedians' channels, web entertainment, and witty dance challenges, were also listed as the videos that users who wanted to enjoy a more enjoyable "home life" by practicing social distance, watched the most.
