Despite being moved to a later date, the first PENTAGON online concert, "We L:VE," was a resounding success last December 13.
The nine-member boy group opened the evening of raw talent with powerful performances of "Basquiat," "Gorilla," and "Can You Feel It." However, this was only the start of a four-chapter performance that ran for almost two full hours, captivating their fans all over the world with various interpretations of PENTAGON going "L:VE."
After the first salvo, PENTAGON members greeted their fans, called UNIVERSE, from across the world, and passionately explained to them: "We should have held the concert two weeks ago, but we're sorry for coming to meet you now."
"It's a more chaotic situation than ever, but we're really grateful to be able to hold the concert and meet you," members of the Cube Entertainment group said.
Keeping the show going, PENTAGON raised the hype for UNIVERSE everywhere with a string of their hits, chief of which was "The Black Hall," chosen by their fans as the song they wanted to see the most. The most sought-after track was from the group's first full studio album, "Universe: The Black Hall."
The group also performed their other hits "Happiness," "Shine," "Naughty Boy," and "Spring Snow." Aside from PENTAGON performing together, "WE L:VE" also offered unit performances, further highlighting each member's individual charms and talents. First off, Hui and Shinwon electrified the concert with a rock track with their self-composed song "WTH," with the song debuting at the event. Rappers Yuto and Wooseok performed a hip-hop number, capturing hearts with their swag and confidence.
On the other hand, Hongseok and Yanan offered warmth for the wintertime with their emotional performance of "I Will Go To You Like The First Snow," originally sung by Ailee. Yeo One and Kino also set the stage on fire with their performance of Taemin's "Move."
Completing the nine-member lineup, Jinho did not miss the opportunity to be a part of the "WE L:VE" event. Despite enlisting for the military last May, the PENTAGON vocalist still appeared through video chat, offering a welcome surprise for curious UNIVERSEs. He also provided support and excitement for his groupmates' performances.
The "WE L:VE" concert also served as the group's comeback stage for its tracks "Daisy," "Paradise," and "You Like," the songs performed for the first time since the group's 10th mini-album was released. Additionally, the event also served as the debut stage for their new song, "Flame," used to bring the concert to a close. Interestingly, the song's lyrics are taken from fan letters submitted by UNIVERSE and received warmly by PENTAGON.
'You're not in front of us right now, but I believe we're connected [to] each other with hearts. We think we will be thinking of the concert we did together today over time," PENTAGON said before wrapping up the event. "It was such a happy time to be with UNIVERSE all over the world. Let's walk together now and forever.'
Member Hui added: 'I feel it whenever I perform, but I'm most grateful for the love from UNIVERSE. Many things happened and there were lots of changes as well, but I was able to stay here because of UNIVERSE." While he announced his departure, he passionately asked UNIVERSE to wait for him, promising to return in a "much better and healthier way."
