BTS Included in Forbes' 'The World's Highest-Paid Celebrities' Ranking this 2020

BTS has made it to the ranking of Forbes' "The World's Highest-Paid Celebrities" of this year - the boy band is the only Korean celebrity to be included.

Forbes is a global media label that is centered on various fields such as business, technology, entrepreneurship, investing, leadership, and lifestyle. It issues articles about the said areas eight times a year. The magazine is best known for its lists and rankings, and some of them are the "400 Richest Americans," "The World's Most Powerful People," and "The World's Billionaires."

And recently, Forbes has released the ranking of "The World's Highest-Paid Celebrities" this year, and only one Korean celebrity managed to secure a spot - it is none other than the world-famed BTS! The ranking consists of 100 celebrities from around the world and the boy group was able to make it to the Top 50, particularly BTS came in at No. 47.

According to Forbes, BTS grossed a total of 170 million USD in 2019, more than any American group could earn except for the heavy metal band Metallica. "BTS World Tour Love Yourself: Speak Yourself" last year most likely contributed to the group's impressive income as the group was able to wrap up the tour, earning 117 million USD after holding 20 concerts in different cities across the globe starting in May to October.

Forbes then noted the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, which they said interrupted the Korean pop group's momentum prior to a planned stadium tour across the United States - referring to the North American leg of BTS's "Map of the Soul" world tour that was supposed to take place from April to June this year. Big Hit previously stated that BTS's tour would be rescheduled to a later date.

Last year, BTS was also on the ranking of "Forbes Celebrity 100," debuting at No. 43 as they took home a total of 57 million USD pretax income over the past year. According to Forbes, a significant portion of the boy band's earnings stemmed from its massive "BTS World Tour: Love Yourself" and the "Speak Yourself" stadium tour extension, giving support to their record-breaking "Love Yourself" album trilogy: Her, Tear, and Answer.

Meanwhile, BTS is also included in Forbes' previously released "100 Digital Stars" list, along with other K-Pop groups such as BLACKPINK, TWICE, Red Velvet, SEVENTEEN, EXO members Baekhyun, Sehun, and Chanyeol; and f(x) members Victoria and Krystal. Solo artists HyunA, Sunmi, Suzy, and IU are also included in the list. Former EXO members Kris and Luhan also made it to the list.

In other news, BTS has set a new record with the music video of its hit song "Dynamite." On Dec. 17 at 9:42 p.m. KST, the MV reached 700 million views. This means that the milestone only took around three months and 26 days.

"Dynamite" previously broke numerous records on YouTube, including Guinness World Records titles such as "Most viewed YouTube video in 24 hours," "Most viewed YouTube music video in 24 hours," and "Most viewed YouTube video in 24 hours by K-pop group."
