Forbes Praises TWICE for Their Growing Global Influence

TWICE, who released their new song "CRY FOR ME" on Friday, Dec. 18, is currently receiving a lot of love and attention from various foreign media outlets. On the 18th (Korean time), Forbes, a renowned economic magazine from the United States, announced that TWICE, who had broken their own record of the Billboard 200 this year, had released "CRY FOR ME" for fans.

The noted that "CRY FOR ME" is a song that world-renowned writers collaborated on, such as JYP Entertainment founder and legendary producer Park Jinyoung (J.Y. Park) and Ryan Tedder, a Grammy-award winning recording producer and a member of the rock band OneRepublic. Ryan Tedder previously worked on Adele's "21" and "25", as well as Taylor Swift's "1989".

This is not TWICE's first time collaborating with foreign partners. Back on Oct. 16, Rior Game had confirmed that K/DA would be collaborating with TWICE. Members Nayeon, Sana, Jihyo, and Chaeyoung. On Nov. 6, the League of Legends (LoL) girl group K/DA released their extended play "All Out" with the song "I'll Show You" which features TWICE alongside Bekuh Boom and Annika Wells.

The publication noted that TWICE, who has already topped the music charts in South Korea and Japan, is currently building a stronger global influence through new collaborations that have held expand their musical color. TWICE's second full-length album, "Eyes Wide Open" was released on Oct. 26 and was selected by TIME Magazine as one of the albums that best represent K-pop this 2020. The album ranked at number 72 on the Billboard 200 chart on Dec. 19.

It is the second time TWICE has ranked on the Billboard 200 chart. Previously, their ninth mini-album, "More & More", ranked at the 200th spot back in June. This means that TWICE jumped more than 100 spots in six months. They broke the record they set for "More & More" seven weeks after the release of "Eyes Wide Open".

Additionally, their new song "CRY FOR ME" is receiving positive responses from listeners. On Friday, Dec. 18, at 3 PM KST, "CRY FOR ME" entered and topped Japan's LINE Music Top 100 Real-Time Charts. The song also topped the iTunes Songs Chart in 20 regions, including Brazil, Indonesia, and Thailand. It also ranked second on the Worldwide iTunes Songs charts.

"CRY FOR ME" is a song that expresses the confused emotions one feels when they are between love and hatred and shows TWICE is a new color and allows them to showcase new charms. TWICE first performed "CRY FOR ME" at the 2020 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) as a surprise performance of an unreleased track.

Due to the amount of love the song received and the high demand from fans, JYP Entertainment officially released the song as a digital single on Dec. 18.
