BTS has, undeniably, provided a lot of comfort and feeling of hope to their fans thru their "Love Myself" campaign. On Monday, Dec. 28, the campaign, in a statement, encouraged everyone to continue prioritizing self-care and self-love in 2021.
The "Love Myself" campaign stated, via its official website, that 2020 was a very challenging year to everyone, especially with the all the perils and uncertainties brought by the COVID-19 pandemic. It added that the global health crisis had taught most, if not all, of us to take care of ourselves more than ever, saying loving one's self is the beginning of true love.
To recall, Jimin, Jin, RM, V, J-Hope, Jungkook, and Suga took to social media to share a message of hope as the world faces the COVID-19 pandemic. The video, which was uploaded on the official YouTube channel of BTS and the "Love Myself" account, featured the Bangtan boys responding to the call of hope of nurse officers at the Korea Armed Forces Nursing Academy.
The BTS members stated, in the clip, that 2020 is the perfect time for everyone to trust each other and set aside anxieties and hate against each other. They even assured their avid followers that they would face these trying times with all of them. They also hoped that they could sing and share happy moments with their devoted supporters in the soonest time possible.
The "Dynamite" singers also released the "Dear Class of 2020" video in June to encourage all graduates to keep moving forward despite all the quandaries and difficulties that come their way. In the virtual commencement celebration, Jimin, Jin, RM, V, J-Hope, Jungkook, and Suga sang and danced to the tune of their popular track called "Boy with Luv," which is their first collaboration with American singer Halsey.
BTS was also given a chance to deliver a speech during the 75th UN General Assembly in June. In their message, they shared how COVID-19 affected their plans in 2020, adding that the pandemic has made them feel hopeless unsure of what lies ahead before them. Despite this, the "Life Goes On" hitmakers have supported and held on to each other. In the end, they encouraged their avid fans to continue chasing their dreams and believe that better days are coming soon.
There have been more than 14,000,000 #BTSLoveMyself hashtags shared on various social media platforms in the last three years. It was even revealed that the support that the campaign has been getting since it was first launched led BTS members to collect more than 3 billion won campaign fund.
In the end, the "Love Myself" campaign thanked all the supporters who showed love and encouragement since November 2017. It also reminded all ARMYs that "loving me is the beginning of true love" and vowed that, together with the septet, it would continue fulfilling its goal to bring hope and comfort to everyone in 2021.
