The media outlet talks about how BLACKPINK left a mark on this non-contact K-pop era with their exciting summer collaboration with Selena Gomez for their second pre-release track, "Ice Cream," as well as with Lady Gaga, who featured the idol group in her song "Sour Candy."

Moving on, BLACKPINK has also earned numerous honors from Billboard, their track "Ice Cream" becoming the highest-charting single by a Korean girl group in "Hot 100", and also the first group to record a No. 1 debut on Billboard Global 200 (Excluding the U.S.). On the same day, the group also claimed first place on the " Artist 100" chart for the first time.
Meanwhile, fans and netizens also congratulated the girl group as they became the first girl group to have a debut song surpassing 1 billion views on YouTube, through "BOOMBAYAH."
BLACKPINK Claims Several Titles and Success with "THE ALBUM"
The highly-anticipated first studio album of BLACKPINK gained lots of interest as to how grand the concept and album title.
Thus, fans were surprised to know that the title would be a simple, "THE ALBUM." Despite it, it rose as an intimidating album by how it fulfilled their year with sundry glory.
In particular, "THE ALBUM" made BLACKPINK becomes the best-selling girl group in Korea, as they sold million album copies after it was released. It also hailed them as the fastest girl group reach 1 billion streams on Spotify, proving their continuous popularity. Because of this, they also became Spotify's most-streamed girl group this year.
Lastly, BLACKPINK was named by high-powered publication Variety, as "Girl Group of the Year" 2020.
