The "Asia's No. 1 Girl Group" TWICE created new history as the first K-pop female group to record 100 million streams in Japan!
On Jan. 6, Wednesday, Billboard Japan announced that "Feel Special" has surpassed 100 million cumulative plays on the Billboard Japan "Streaming Songs" chart on January 11, data collected from Dec. 28 to Jan. 3.
"Feel Special" first appeared in third place on the chart last October 7, 2019, and has been keeping its spot in the top 100 for 67 consecutive weeks, so far.
In particular, it was reported that it re-entered the TOP20 chart on June 22 last year, with the influence of JYP Entertainment's produce -survival show. The track was used as a contest song for the audition program "NiziU," which is the program that gave birth to its sister group, NiziU.
According to Billboard Japan, "This is the first time that TWICE's song has reached 100 million streams.
They added, "It is the third time in history that a foreign artist has reached 100 million playbacks after Ed Sheeran's "Shape of You" and BTS's "Dynamite."
TWICE's "Feel Special" Achievements and Records
"Feel Special" is the title track of the K-pop group's eight mini-album with the same name. It was released on Sept. 23, 2019.
Upon its release, it rose to the top of domestic and international charts, peaking at No. 1 on rankings such as U.S. Billboard's "World Digital Song Sales," and Billboard Korea's "K-pop 100."
It also earned a record from the Philippines, Canada, and Japan's "Hot 100," ranking fifth, 82nd, and fourth places, respectively.
In the same year of its release, it also ended as "Best K-pop Song of 2019," as listed by South China Morning Post.
TWICE Recent Release + Upcoming Schedules
Previously, TWICE left a significant release last year, which is their second full-length album "Eyes Wide Open," released on October 26.
When it was released, it immediately grabbed a high-rank and claimed the 72nd spot on Billboard's "Billboard 200."
"Eyes Wide Open" proved the attention it received from K-pop fans and music media, as it was listed in the album category among "2020 Songs and Albums That Defined K-Pop's Instrumental Year in 2020" selected by Time magazine in the U.S.

Time said, "The tracks on the album are linked under the theme of Light vs. Darkness. TWICE gives comfort and energy to listeners by expressing inner confusion with sweet voices and exciting rhythms.
Following their studio album, they also introduced a new song, ", CRY FOR ME," that adorned the stages of year-end music ceremonies.
On the other hand, they are also set to show their outstanding performance for the upcoming "Golden Disk Awards," where they were announced to join the lineup.
