In celebration of its tenth anniversary, the Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines (KCCPH) has launched its "2021 Kolorful Adventures" series.
Grounding on its roots, looking back at all it has achieved, and setting forward future plans to foster the amicable relationship between South Korea and the Philippines. The series title, "Kolorful Adventures," harkens to the colorful Korean culture that has been embraced by Filipino fans for more than ten years now, starting with the Hallyu Wave at the turn of the millennium.
Even in the middle of the pandemic, listening to the latest K-Pop hits and watching the latest K-Drama series have provided a coping mechanism not only to Filipino fans but to a lot of people around the world.
With a series of traditional and modern events, KCCPH aims to provide both entertainment and education to its Filipino fans.
Seollal Kick-Off Activities
KCCPH began its string of activities with a Seollal Activity which featured Traditional Korean Arts kits. Seollal, or the Korean Lunar New Year, was a perfect opportunity for a new beginning - especially for 25 chosen participants who had the chance to experience Korean culture firsthand. They were given their own kits and made their own Hanji Rubber Shows, a Hanbok Key Ring, a Hangul Eraser Stamp, a Korean Fan, and a Pressed Flower Mirror - all from the comfort and safety of their own homes.
Aside from the art kit workshop, KCC also welcomed the New Year with JegiChagi Tutorial Livestream on its Facebook page, seeing its participants make their own jegi - the Korean version of sipa, or hackysack/ shuttlecock - and got the chance to win goodies from some of the biggest K-Pop artists around: BTS, BLACKPINK, TWICE, and EXO.
Also, to promote and raise awareness about the quintessential Korean food, Kimchi, KCCPH also launched its ChikaHansik: Kimchi Editions. Based on its hit Hansik Sessions, which was a cooking tutorial with Teacher Lily, ChikaHansik will be a cooking-slash-talk show featuring Filipino celebrities who will recreate various kinds of kimchi, while engaging in "chikahan" or chatting. In the spirit of Korean-Filipino relations, kimchi will be teamed up with various Filipino dishes, fusing the two culinary sensitivities together.

Keeping Entertainment and Education Safe
Aside from its Seollal activities, KCCPH has also unveiled a lineup of virtual activities, driven largely by its desire to keep everyone involved safe in accordance with the pandemic safety guidelines.
Capitalizing on the reach generated by its Korea at Home events last year, KCC aims to continue its programs that promote Korean music, sports, dance, literature, clothing, and even food through informative yet entertaining shows in its upcoming "Traditional Thursday" series.
Additionally, it plans to host another round of online talent programs through the 2021 Pinoy K-Pop Star, as well as its K-Pop tutorial, K-Dance Power Up, a sequel to the K-Drama Webinar, and its very own Korean Film Festival.
As the Filipinos expressed interest in learning the Korean language, KCCPH has also announced its plans to expand its Online Korean Language Class, offering more schedules to accommodate more interested learners. It will be divided into three 2021 terms: Term 1 from February to April, Term 2 from June to August, and Term 3 from October to December.
