Red Velvet Wendy's New Appearance Spurs Nose Job Rumors
Following the third episode of JTBC's new musical variety show "Mysterious Record Shop," Red Velvet member Wendy shocked viewers with her new visuals. Her nose appeared to have a higher nose bridge, and the tip appeared to be sharper. The nose alar also appeared to be smaller.
As her face had appeared to be swollen, some had speculated that the Red Velvet member had recently gone under a knife. The rumors made headlines after an anonymous user on an online community forum made a post titled "Did Red Velvet's Wendy get a nose surgery?" They noted that they meant no malicious intent but that Wendy had looked different and had even asked, "Is this really Wendy?" They also included screenshots of her appearance on the episode.
How Did People React to Red Velvet Wendy's Nose Job Speculations?
While some people had questioned the idol for possibly going under the knife, most people decided to shield Wendy from any possible malicious rumors. People noted that Wendy's face had changed after receiving reconstruction surgery following her dangerous fall at the 2019 SBS Gayo Daejeon rehearsals. Because of that, her appearance had changed, not because she wanted it to, but because she had to.
Wendy's swelling had appeared to have gotten worse in the following episodes, and some speculate that it is side-effects of the fall and her physical therapy. Many are asking people to refrain from making unnecessary negative comments concerning Wendy, especially as she had done nothing wrong.
Wendy's SBS Gayo Daejeon Incident
On Dec. 25, 2019, Wendy suffered a fall of 8.2 feet (2.5 meters) during rehearsals for her solo stage at the 2019 SBS Gayo Daejeon. The Red Velvet member fell due to the lack of common safety measures by the music festival's crew members in terms of stage designs, as well as the lack of lift stairs. She suffered a pelvic fracture, a cracked cheekbone, and a broken wrist, all on the right side of her body. All of Wendy's planned activities were canceled to focus on treatment, and the idol was hospitalized for two months.
Wendy was discharged from the hospital on Feb. 2020 and is currently taking outpatient treatment.
Wendy's Most Recent Activities
A month after her discharge, Wendy was confirmed as the main voice actor for the Korean release of the film "Trolls: World Tour." The movie was released in April 2020. In May 2020, Wendy collaborated with Zico for the song "My Day Is Full Of You," which was released as the OST of "The King: Eternal Monarch."
In Nov. 2020, Wendy participated in Red Velvet's OST for "Start-Up" titled "Future." She also released her own solo OST for the drama titled "Two Worlds." Currently, she is a co-host of the JTBC program "Mysterious Record Shop."
