BTS's management agency, Big Hit Entertainment, revealed that they plan to debut a new K-pop boy group in partnership with the world's leading music company, Universal Music Group (UMG).
Big Hit Entertainment Officially Announces Joint Project with Universal Music Group
On Feb. 18, Big Hit made an official announcement related to the collaboration between them and the Universal Music Group at a joint presentation event of the two labels. The meeting was broadcast live on the digital live streaming platform, VenewLive.
According to Sir Lucian Grange, the chairman and CEO of the UMG, they will be establishing a joint venture with Big Hit to "showcase global artist project."
"We are looking forward to seeing what kind of new future between the two companies will create in the music industry," he added.

Big Hit Entertainment's chairman and CEO, Bang Si Hyuk, also commented on their joint project, saying, "It is an honor to build a joint venture with the Universal Music Group to promote various global projects together."
He also shared that if Big Hit's pioneering ideas are combined with the influence and know-how accumulated by UMG in the world music market, it is sure that they will "make things possible that we never imagined."
Bang continued, "As both Universal Music Group and Big Hit are companies that have constantly pursued innovation, I believe that the two agencies will create synergy in the global music industry."
Big Hit Entertainment to Hold Global Audition in Search of Members of the New K-Pop Boy Group
Big Hit's co-CEO Yoon Seok Jun, who is in charge of the company's global and platform business, went on to share that they will conduct a global audition where they will carefully choose the potential members of their new K-pop boy group, who will be active in the global market with UMG. He added that the audition program will be broadcast with the help of media partners in the United States in 2022.
He further stated, "Big Hit will be in charge of discovering and training artists, producing fan content, and communicating with fans through Weverse. UMG will be responsible for the music production, audition production, and global distribution using their powerful local network."

This will be Big Hit Entertainment's second major project with the Universal Music Group this year, with the first one being the launch of a new live-streaming platform, VenewLive, which was mentioned above. This is also in collaboration with YG Entertainment and Kiswe.
Big Hit Entertainment's Current K-pop Boy Groups
At present, Big Hit Entertainment has two active K-pop boy groups who are well-known all over the world - it is none other than BTS (Bangtan Sonyeondan) and TXT (TOMORROW X TOGETHER). But in its subsidiaries, including Pledis Entertainment and Belift Lab, there are two more boy bands, namely SEVENTEEN (under Pledis) and rookie group ENHYPEN (under Belift Lab).
The South Korean company is also known to have managed 2AM, which made its debut in July 2008 and is currently on hiatus due to some members completing their military service.
