Red Velvet Wendy's Recent Activities
On Dec. 25, 2019, Wendy was involved in a stage accident at the 2019 SBS Gayo Daejeon rehearsals. During the rehearsals for her solo stage, Wendy suffered a fall of 2.5 meters due to the lack of common safety measures by the show's crew members in terms of stage designs and the lift stairs not being in place for her rehearsal.
Wendy suffered major injuries, including a pelvic fracture, a broken wrist, and a cracked cheekbone. All of Wendy's injuries were sustained on the right side of her body.
The accident led to the cancellation of all of Wendy's planned activities. The female idol was discharged on Feb. 2020 after two months of recovery, and she began going to physical therapy.
Wendy's first activity with Red Velvet following the incident was in Aug. 2020, participating in Red Velvet's cover single of BoA's "Milky Way," which was part of a project celebrating BoA's 20th debut anniversary.
Wendy made her official return to group activities on Jan. 1, 2021, performing with Red Velvet in SM Entertainment's online concert, "Culture Humanity."
That same month, it was announced that Wendy would make her return to the entertainment industry as a co-host of "Mysterious Record Shop."
