(G)I-DLE Jeon Soyeon to Make Solo Comeback

On May 21, KST, according to (G)I-DLE's agency, Cube Entertainment, they revealed to Newsen that the group's leader and rapper, Jeon Soyeon, is preparing to make her solo comeback sometime in June. However, the exact date of her comeback is still being decided.

This marks Jeon Soyeon's first solo comeback after four years, when she made her solo debut with "Jelly" and "Idle Song" in November 5, 2017, where both songs were written by her.

Jeon Soyeon's Solo Debut and Debut with (G)I-DLE

Prior to making any of her debuts, Jeon Soyeon participated as a representative trainee of Cube Entertainment for the first season of Mnet's "Produce 101," a popular girl group survival show. Throughout the show, she was one of the popular contestants, however in the last episode, she failed to make it within the top 11 and make her debut as a member of I.O.I.

In July 2016, she further rose to prominence after appearing on the third season of Mnet's rap survival program, "Unpretty Rapstar," where she became recognized for her rap skills and reached the semi-finals, finished as the season's second runner-up.

Later in the year, she signed an exclusive contract with Cube Entertainment, which allowed her to make her solo debut with "Jelly" and "Idle Song" on November 5, 2017.

In May 2018, Jeon Soyeon made her re-debut as a member of Cube Entertainment's girl group, (G)I-DLE, as the group's leader and main rapper, with the song "Latata," where she was credited for the song's lyrics, arrangement and music.

Following the group's debut, (G)I-DLE continued to release numerous hit songs such as "Hann (Alone)," "Senorita," "Uh-Oh," "Lion," and more, making them one of the top girl groups.

Jeon Soyeon also ventured into her solo activities, such as participating for SM Station with Chungha, Red Velvet's Seulgi, and GFRIEND's SinB for "Wow Thing." She also collaborated with international stars such as Madison Beer and Jaira Burns and fellow member Miyeon for K/DA, a virtual girl group.

Through the years, Jeon Soyeon has been building up her list of songs where she worked as a producer and composer, such as CLC's "No," Apink Namjoo's "Bird," and more.
