As MONSTA X makes their much-awaited comeback with "One Of A Kind," fans are treated to its equally-riveting title track "GAMBLER," with the digital single and the music video out now.
On June 1, 6 PM KST, MONSTA X released their ninth mini-album on various online music sites. And with it, Starship Entertainment and the globally renowned boy group released the music video for "GAMBLER," the title track for "One Of A Kind."
In the new music video, running a little over four minutes, the members find themselves in a mafia - heist situation. Starting with a man bound and hooded in a chair. Shortly after, Jooheon takes off the man's hood and sets the intro in motion with his line: "If you don't know, now you know/ Okay? deal!"
Next, Minhyuk stuns immediately as he steps out of the elevator, with a mesh shirt under a black coat. He leads the first verse as the audience sees a body being dragged across the floor and a tease to the song's choreography. Hyungwon follows, seen wearing a red shirt while in a bar, seemingly surveilling a target.
I.M, posed as a techie at work, continues the verse as the MV weaves in and out of the MONSTA X choreography. As the pre-chorus sets in, the tension in the music video rises, as it shows Kihyun planting a bomb at the establishment's maintenance room.
Furthermore, Shownu appears walking down a hallway, two escorts beside him, and his hand cuffed to a briefcase.
MONSTA X begins the second act with cool and mature black ensembles, showing their smooth dance moves in perfect harmony - set against a backdrop of an empty dance floor.
Another section features all six members in a stage set by intersecting police vehicle headlights, with their all black suits bringing to mind some of the biggest heist movies of the past.
The six members pretend to not know each other, when in fact they are closing in on their target - a priceless jewel.
Fans will definitely feel the impressive acting MONSTA X displays in the "GAMBLER" music video, especially the part where Minhyuk and Kihyun are set to go into a scuffle.
Aside from their singing and dancing being on point for their latest title track, the Starship Entertainment artists proved their all-around skills as performers.
"One Of A Kind" is the group's ninth mini-album, following the Japanese-language "Flavors of Love" last May 5, and marks their Korean comeback seven months after "Fatal Love" was released last November 2020.
MONSTA X also set a special event for their fans, planning to meet fans and welcome the new album together. On the day of the release, 30 minutes before the set time, MONSTA X held an event on their Naver NOW channel.
Additionally, Jooheon has taken a more active role in the development and production of "GAMBLER," marking a new achievement in the rapper's creative career.
Also, Hyungwon has once again lent his ability to craft songs with his self-composed tracks "Secret" and "Bebe," which are tracks in "One Of A Kind."
