UNIVERSE Makes History With 10 Million App Downloads Four Months After Launch

The hit K-pop fan interaction platform, UNIVERSE, has crossed the 10 million download mark four years since it was launched across 134 countries.

NCsoft Co., Ltd., and Klap Co., Ltd. announced on June 7 KST that their latest global entertainment platform had made the achievement through cumulative downloads of the app. By the time of their announcement, UNIVERSE is already enjoying more than 3.3 million active users every month. An overwhelming 80 percent of this population comes from overseas users or those from outside South Korea. Additionally, users were found to enjoy the newest K-pop platform for an average of 30 minutes per day.

Currently, the K-pop artists who have joined the UNIVERSE platform include Kang Daniel, MONSTA X, CIX, (G)I-DLE, WJSN, ATEEZ, Cravity, and more. It has grown its roster of stars now includes 18 artists with the latest addition of EPEX and GOT7 Youngjae. On the platform, each idol receives its own "PLANET," an exclusive space dedicated to the artist and their respective fanbase. Through this, idols can freely interact with their fans, and in return, fans can organize events in appreciation of their beloved idols.

The developers behind the hit fan interaction platform also announced that since its January 28 launch, up until the start of June 2021, UNIVERSE has already released 471 content. This includes various entertainment materials, video on demand (VOD) of concerts such as the UNI-KON as well as fan meet events on the platform, concept photo releases, radio appearances, and more.

Among its most warmly received contents include releases from the UNIVERSE Music and UNIVERSE Original series. In UNIVERSE Music, artists release all-new, original tracks, with the MV being exclusive content available only to the subscribers of the app. It began in January with IZ*ONE's "D-D-Dance," and has been followed once every month until May, which saw two releases with Kang Daniel's "Outerspace" feat. Loco and AB6IX's "GEMINI." It showed promise as every song was commercially successful, with others breaking through singles charts both in Korea and in other parts of the world.

On the other hand, UNIVERSE Original is exclusive web series that aims to show a new side of the artists to their fans with new and original stories. Its latest releases include "Prince Escape: Prisoner 5959" starring Park Ji Hoon and "Space Force A: A Secret Golden Bowl" featuring the boy group ASTRO.

In celebration of its latest milestone, UNIVERSE has launched a string of events on its platform. This includes the release of a selection of content on the app for free. Additionally, its affiliated artists will be releasing their own celebratory videos congratulating their new home and their fans, to be available on the UNIVERSE SNS and official website.
